2021: Accessibility in all regions of Russia

Russian Post on February 19, 2021 announced the beginning of accepting orders from online stores with delivery to the door in all regions of Russia.

Previously, such an opportunity was available only in 205 cities.

Customers can hand over shipments of goods at more than 5,000 post offices throughout Russia or use the Courier Fee option to get the courier to the warehouse and take the parcels. Regular couriers of the Post deliver parcels to more than 11,300 settlements. The Post also halved the cost of returning parcels sent by the Courier Online service, and now it is 50% of the tariff for direct delivery.

Our offices become universal e-commerce centers where you can quickly hand over parcels, including for delivery by courier. We have a low fee for the imposed payment and one of the most profitable tariffs in the market, charging the departure by physical weight, and not by volume. Accordingly, there are no hidden margins, and the customer always knows exactly the cost of delivery. After the buyer pays for the item, the online store receives money in the account within 72 hours, which is especially important for small and medium-sized businesses. Another obvious plus is the possibility of forwarding and a free re-attempt to deliver the order. The metric important for online retailers - the ransom - at the end of 2020 was 92%. In the near future, there are a number of serious improvements, for example, the notification system, interval delivery, delivery on the same day and others, "said Alexei Skatin, Deputy General Director for Electronic Commerce of Russian Post JSC.

Since February, the Post has doubled the size of the cargo allowed for departure by the Courier Online. Now the sum of length, width and height should not exceed 220 cm, and either side can be up to 150 cm in length. This will allow online stores to deliver by couriers a significantly wider range of goods, for example, household appliances, dimensional sports goods, furniture items, animal feed. Also, the size of the declared value for the package has tripled - from 100 to 300 thousand rubles.

In 2020, the number of courier deliveries increased by 22% compared to 2019 and amounted to 12 million parcels. The number of e-comm customers increased by 25% over the year. In many ways, this became possible thanks to the simplified connection of corporate customers - from April 1, 2020, you can conclude an offer agreement with the Post Office in 30 minutes. Previously, the process could take up to several weeks.

2020: Accessibility in 205 cities of Russia

On July 8, 2020, the Russian Post announced a 4-fold increase in the number of cities with points for receiving parcels of corporate customers of the company. Now it is possible to use the Courier Online service in 205 cities of Russia - the most active in the e-commerce market. Previously, the service was available only in 50 cities.

The Courier Online service is designed for remote trading companies and offers the delivery of Internet home orders. Russian Post recorded a sharp increase in the number of such shipments - more than 5 times. This increase in demand is caused by restrictive measures during the pandemic.

Since June 10, parcels are accepted not only in specialized closed-type departments - you can hand over shipments in 575 parcel reception centers. The sender can also use the option "Courier Fee" and hand over the goods on his territory - in this case, the courier of the Post will come to the warehouse to receive a batch of goods.

The fixed cost of the Courier Online service is set for 3 kg, followed by charging for each 0.5 kg. The maximum permissible weight of departure is 31.5 kg. The service can be paid by credit card.

In March 2020, there was a significant increase in business activity among online stores in Moscow, St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region. Compared to the same period in 2019, 7 and 9 times more orders were sent from these regions by the Russian Post, respectively. In the Moscow region, courier delivery volumes increased more than 5 times, in Sverdlovsk - 12 times, in Tverskoy - 5 times, in Irkutsk, Novosibirsk and Rostov - 3 times.

Survey data indicate that 74% of Russians plan to use delivery services even more often or at the current level after the lifting of restrictive measures.

The increase in courier delivery indicates the demand for service from online stores and their customers. During the period of restrictive measures, we saw a rapid increase in online orders. Actively increasing the use of the courier service of the Russian Post not only online stores, but also representatives of traditional retail, for which the organization of local delivery from the store to the house made it possible to cope with a sharp surge in orders and use offline retail. More than 2,400 customers have used our services in the last month alone. Russian Post is ready to fully satisfy the increased demand for courier delivery and, if necessary, expand its geography, which has already approached 1800 settlements, "said Leonid Zondberg, adviser to the Deputy General Director of the Russian Post for E-Commerce.
