Dell Storage NX series of DWH

Dell Storage NX - a series of products - network systems of data storage.

On April 18, 2016 the Dell company presented to the Russian market the solution for data storage of Dell Storage NX430 with the software of Windows Storage Server 2012 R2.

As a part of the Dell Storage NX series three models of network systems of storage (NAS): NX430, NX3230 and NX3330 on the basis of the Dell PowerEdge servers of the 13th generation.

These NAS represent the servers configured for work with files and support functions of the print server. It is possible to manage them far off. The NAS servers are delivered with the preset operating system, they can be brought into operation quickly.

WSS2012 R2 OS in the version of Storage Server does not require licenses for connection of clients (Client Access License, CAL).

Features of the NX series

• NX430 – system 1U with a general capacity up to 32 Tbyte mounted in a rack (with the disks NL-SAS 8 Tbyte), supports the drives NL-SAS or SATA with the rotational speed of 7.2 thousand RPM. This system of initial level on the basis of the PowerEdge R330 server is intended for support of collective work at the enterprises of small/medium business and at remote offices.

Dell Storage NX430 (2015)

• NX3230 offers the maximum capacity of data storage up to 72 TB (when installing HDD 6 Tbyte) in body 2U. It supports disk storage modules of SAS (10K and 15K) with a capacity of 600 Gbytes and 1.2 Tbytes, SATA (7.2K) with a capacity of 2 and 4 Tbytes, NL-SAS (7.2K) with a capacity from 1 to 6 Tbyte. At the heart of this system – the PowerEdge R730xd server of the 13th generation. It is focused on the sector of the SMB enterprises.

• NX3330 – the gateway mounted in a rack in body 1U with two 2.5' the disks SAS (10K), hot swappable, with a capacity of 300 Gbytes in RAID1 configurations or four such HDD in RAID5 configuration. Ready for work in the cluster mode DWH on the platform of the server PowerEdge R630 of the 13th generation which can be used as the gateway for connection in the general infrastructure of data storage of bigger capacity (PowerVault MD3 to disk arrays EqualLogic or Compellent).

The software of Windows Storage Server 2012 R2 includes functionality:

• support of multilevel data storage,
• caching on SSD,
• failsafe cluster configurations
• recovery at failures,
• Hyper-V Live Migration through SMB,
• general VHDx files
• virtual disks of VHD,
• change of capacity of VHD,
• management of bandwidth
• quality management of service (QoS),
• the detailed messages about events.

OS allows to use in a cluster the general volumes (Cluster Shared Volumes, CSV), and the volume may contain up to 64 nodes (only in NX3330), deduplication in the environment of VDI, automatic balancing of loading, SMI-S is supported.
