2020: Hisense 85U9E is the first 8K-TV with two displays

In March, 2020 provided to Hisense as the company claims, the first-ever 8K-TV with two displays. In assortment of the producer model 85U9E appeared.

It locates the basic 85-inch display unit and additional 28-inch which is below. Any useful information, like time, a weather forecast, the control menu, etc. is brought to less large screen.

The basic display unit is characterized by resolution capability 7680 x 4320 pixels, 10-bit display of color, with a maximum brightness of 2500 sq.m, contrast 80 000:1 both <1. По словам разработчиков, по точности цветопередачи устройство превосходит Delta EiPhone 11 value and the Sony Z9D TV.

Hisense 85U9E supports technology 8K Super Resolution Upscaler which lifts 4K-content to level 8K. The display is constructed on technology of quantum points Quantum Dot Color Gamut which ensuring creation of bright and natural colors.

Besides, presence of multichannel speaker system 4.2.2 is specified. In comparison with TVs with the standard speaker system of format 2 or 2.1 this model creates a surround sound. It is equipped with the loudspeakers directed up, and their total power reaches 110 W.

The producer also points to existence of the selected block for problems of artificial intelligence which includes couple of cores and has frequency 6.5 TOPS.

Amount of RAM in the TV is 4 Gbytes, the capacity of the built-in flash drive - 128 Gbytes. The Android Pie operating system is responsible for program control. Hisense 85U9E also received Mini-LED illumination at which the whole 1694 separate zones. For their control and management the special microprocessor and 112 controllers is provided.

At the time of the announcement of Hisense are not called 85U9E, but cost is known - $11,350.[1]

2019: Beginning of sales

In July, 2019 Hisense put on the market as the company claims, the first-ever commercial TV with two displays. A new system allows to achieve the ultracontrast image.

Two screens are in TVs of a series of Hisense of U9E one after another. One of them is monochrome and other panel — for a color rendition is responsible for light modulation (shading, contrast, detailing, etc.). Both displays have resolution capability   1920 x 1080 pixels. In the future the output of devices with two 4K-screens is expected.

Sales of the first-ever TV with two displays — Hisense of U9E began

The corporate technology received the name BD Cell, it is developed in cooperation with the Chinese company BOE Technology.

According to developers, the contrast indicator in Hisense of U9E reaches 150  000:1 that in 10 times more, than at normal color television receivers. Besides, the new technology provides the high brightness and a wide scope of color spaces, and image quality and accuracy of a color rendition are higher, than at OLED TVs.

Observers of the FlatpanelsHD portal who saw TVs of Hisense with two displays at the CES 2019 exhibition at the beginning of a year, noted that the technology is promising. A naked eye more deep black colors, the increased contrast and more saturated colors of rather normal LCD TVs were visible. Also journalists paid attention to a dull surface of BD Cell screens. In traditional TVs use glossy screens to increase in a black level, but they glare and reflect any source of lighting indoors.

"Two-layer" TVs of Hisense went on sale in the Chinese market. the 65-inch model costs 18 thousand yuans (about $2600). In 2020 in shops devices with 55-and 75-inch displays will appear.

The producer is going to sell new TVs outside Celestial Empire, however did not decide on terms by July, 2019.[2]
