Open UNB (Open Ultra-Narrowband) is the protocol of wireless data transmission for high-capacious networks on the basis of supernarrow-band communication. Such networks are applied at data collection from metering devices in the system of housing and public utilities.

2020: Equipment of the equipment of GoodWAN support of the OpenUNB protocol

The GoodWAN company entered consortium of Competence center of NTI based on Skoltech on technologies of wireless communication and Internet of Things. As the industrial partner it will provide support of the OpenUNB protocol on the equipment, reported on August 26, 2020 in RVC company.

The internet protocol of things OpenUNB developed by Competence center of NTI based on Skoltech has the status of the preliminary national standard. For August, 2020 it is the first open UNB standard.

UNB is held for use in a specific niche — leaky inhabited areas with the sensors and devices installed in the hardly accessible or closed places which do not have access to external power supplies (for example, gas and water meters, etc.). The UNB standard allows to optimize energy consumption at high sensitivity and to use the entrusted cryptography.

Characteristics of OpenUNB are comparable or exceed similar indicators of other standards, in that number in capacity, autonomy and energy efficiency. OpenUNB exceeds the LoRaWAN standard on the area of a covering (with other things being equal) by 3-4 times.
