XNB (Extended Narrowband) is energy efficient LPWAN protocol of a distant range.

2019

Project startup of "smart control" of collecting and export of waste based on LPWAN XNB

On August 15, 2019 the RT-Invest group (it is created with the assistance of State Corporation Rostec) provided a pilot project of digitalization of collecting and transportation of utility waste based on own platform of telematic services. The complex is constructed on own infrastructure of the telematic systems using the data transfer protocol LPWAN XNB developed by Modern Radio of Technology company ("subsidiary" of RT-Invest). Description of the LPWAN XNB protocol

XNB is developed for data exchange of devices in the large distributed territories with the minimum costs of energy. LPWAN networks for Internet of Things, M2M-telemetry with the minimum costs of energy are suitable for creation wireless.

XNB (Extended Narrowband) represents processing of the protocol of communication on the lowest — the physical layer. At the physical layer for signal transmission in STRIZh network modulation of DBPSK is used. As of August, 2019 the band width of the channel of the sending device at the same time makes 100 Hz, at the minimum bitrate in the 50th baud. The narrowband signal and high power on each bit of the transmitted data provides energy potential of a communication channel (link budget) and high noise immunity.

Features of XNB:

  • Frequency of 868.8 MHz (does not require licensing)
    • The XNB protocol is adapted for signal transmission in the frequency of 868.8 MHz (does not require licensing). Signal transmission at the power up to 25 MW does not require permission.

  • 10-40 km sending range of a signal

    • Working in supernarrow band, XNB allows to transmit a signal to tens of kilometers even in difficult city conditions.

  • 5,000 available channels

    • Band width of the sending device — 100 Hz. Width of an available range — 500 kHz. About 5,000 narrow-band channels are available to signal transmission of XNB.

  • Data encryption

  • Unlimited scalability

    • With XNB the capacity of the station increases to 2,000,000 messages a day. It is enough for creation of superintensive wireless IoT-network.

  • Effective use of a range

    • Difficult mathematical algorithms solve a problem of effective utilization of a range and data transmission on narrow band.

  • High penetration

    • Sending range of a data packet up to 50 km on the open area and 15 km within the city. Constructions of buildings are not a barrier, and transfer is possible from cellars and through thick walls, there where does not "catch" GSM.

  • Bidirectional coupling

    • Bidirectional coupling allows to reprogram and manage remotely LPWAN devices, working with the help of the XNB protocol.
