At the end of May 2021, Virtuozzo released the VzLinux operating system, which was previously used only internally to work with OpenVZ virtualization tools and other commercial products.

Virtuozzo released a distribution that called VzLinux 8. This is a free OS designed to run containers and virtual machines. It is positioned as a replacement for CentOS 8.

The VzLinux 8 administrative image proposed by the end of May 2021 is designed to be installed on top of conventional equipment, but in the future it is planned to publish two additional revisions optimized for use in containers and virtual machines. The assembly, among other components, included add-ons for efficient operation under the management of Virtuozzo, OpenVZ and KVM hypervisors, as well as templates for deployment in AWS, Azure and GCP cloud systems.

To quickly translate to VzLinux existing solutions that use CentOS 8, developers offer a special utility that supports the migration of both virtual machines and systems installed on bare metal server. Virtuozzo also provides additional functionality to create snepshots to roll back changes in the event of migration problems and automate server group translation.

It is also planned to release a utility for the transition from CentOS 7, add an agent for Acronis backup systems and begin to deliver the Virtuozzo Linux Enterprise Edition assembly, which is distinguished by commercial support and the supply of live patches that allow you to update the kernel without rebooting. In 2022, it is additionally planned to release a commercial edition of the Host Edition for use in hosting systems.[1]
