The Ministry of Finance of the Irkutsk Region protects data using Cyber ​ ​ Backup. This was announced on September 15, 2022 by Cyberprotect.

The information infrastructure of the ministry for September 2022 is about 200 workstations, 25 physical servers and 40. virtual machines They ensure the operation of a number of information complexes. To back up and save data, the Ministry of Finance of the Irkutsk Region previously used solutions from foreign manufacturers, which contradicted the principles of the import substitution policy of foreign software. Despite the lack of critical information infrastructure facilities in the ministry, it, like other state authorities, was obliged to bring its information infrastructure in line with the requirements of Russian legislation.

When considering domestic data protection solutions, we aimed not just to replace one software with another. We consider import substitution as an effective way to bring the IT landscape in line with technical requirements. Therefore, the goals of the project were also to guarantee infrastructure recovery in the event of failures, the ability to maintain a data archive to provide access to information for previous periods, to ensure the continuity of business processes, "explained Anton Lobanovsky.

The solution of the Russian software developer allows, in addition to backup and recovery of data, to form their retrospective arrays. The high speed of operation ensures the constant availability of information necessary to perform the functions of the regional authority.

The deployment of the solution, its fine-tuning and commissioning, as well as the training of users to work with the system were carried out by third-party specialists.

The implementation of the Cyber Backup system in the ministry was carried out in stages and took a total of four months. In some cases, to ensure the correct operation of the solution with the data of the customer's information systems, assistance from the technical support service of Cyberprotect was required.

The backup and recovery system based on Cyber ​ ​ Backup protects the data of all information systems used in the Ministry of Finance of the Irkutsk Region. Special capacities are allocated for storing backups in the customer's infrastructure, the total amount of backups is about 40 TB.

Among the advantages of the decision, the ministry notes its full compliance with expectations and requirements. Cyber ​ ​ Backup made it possible to fully automate the process of backing up data from all systems and applications. It is carried out in accordance with the schedule and with minimal user participation. At the same time, the solution is not demanding on computing resources and interacts equally confidently with all operating systems and environments.

In addition, IT specialists from the Ministry of Finance note the reliability of the solution, its high performance and usability. Although there is a significant amount of data to back up, the solution performs all the copying-related operations and does not create a significant additional burden on the information systems and infrastructure of the organization.

In the time since the transition to Cyber ​ ​ Backup, there have been no hardware failures or other incidents in the ministry's infrastructure that could require subsequent data recovery.
