2022: Continued automation of warehouse logistics of the enterprise

Nalchik Dairy Plant and AXELOT continue to automate the warehouse logistics of the enterprise. In the fall of 2022, the introduction of AXELOT WMS X5 in the warehouses of raw materials and packaging "NMK" was completed. This was announced by AXELOT on November 9, 2022.

In 2020, on the basis of the AXELOT WMS X5 system, the warehouse of finished products was automated by the joint efforts of NMK and AXELOT, and in the second half of 2022 - warehouses of raw materials and packaging. The total area of the facility where the replication took place is 6,000 square meters. m, its main function is to provide production sites and other divisions of the plant.

The warehouse was not previously automated, thanks to the implementation of WMS, the company management wanted to reduce the number of errors in the receipt and shipment of goods, reduce the dependence of warehouses on the experience of specific employees, and speed up the process of adapting personnel. It was also necessary to develop and implement warehouse storage standards: principles of placement, selection and shipment, compatibility rules at the level of zones and cells, tools for monitoring shelf life and rules for labeling goods.

To solve the tasks, the project team used standard WMS-solution mechanisms, which turned out to be enough to implement most of the requirements. Within the framework of the project, AXELOT specialists trained not only WMS administrators who support the system in raw materials and packaging warehouses, but also specialists responsible for supporting operations in finished product warehouses and inventory.

As in the pilot project, AXELOT WMS X5 was integrated with the CIS. As part of the work on setting up the exchange, the project team decided to update the DATAREON ESB data bus, with the help of which a single integration loop of the enterprise was created, to the latest release in order to use typical handlers when interacting WMS and CIS. In the future, this will allow you to quickly update the WMS used to the latest release with minimal labor to adapt handlers. As a result, the paper is a thing of the past. All tasks are sent to the WMS in electronic form, transmitted to the performers immediately to the data collection terminal, and the results of execution are recorded in real time either at the shipping documentation or at special workplaces. This became possible, among other things, thanks to the unconditional labeling of all products.

The labeling process at the raw materials warehouse is implemented as follows. The WMS operator opens the Expected Receipt document from his workplace, from which he generates the Marking document. It specifies the desired items and the number of labels to print. The generated document is then activated and sent to print. Finished labels are pasted onto products as part of the putaway process. 100% labeling of goods helps reduce the impact of the human factor on the accuracy of tasks and allows you to record in real time all transactions with the product.

It has become easier for people to navigate the warehouse and perform their tasks, since a number of functions have now been transferred to the warehouse management system: choosing places for placement and selection, the sequence of operations, determining the priority of accounting for indicators for assessing the logistical effectiveness of a particular movement of goods. Availability of a well-functioning system with clearly defined principles of acceptance, placement, selection, shipping, together with the automatic control of compatibility rules on shelf life, positively affected the accuracy and quality of assembly of goods in the warehouse of raw materials and packaging, which, in turn, led to the fact that production sites now receive everything they need in accordance with the best logistics practices: at the right time, the right quality and in the right quantity.

One of the significant effects of automation was the widespread personification of the operations performed. This made it possible to count the development of employees based on the systematically collected data, which will allow the development and implementation of a motivation system for warehouse personnel.

2020: Finished Product Warehouse Automation

Nalchik Dairy Plant is a stable and developing company. The management of the enterprise concluded that the existing warehouse automation system no longer meets the growing needs of the business, so a transition to a more modern and productive software solution was planned.

Based on a number of key indicators, including positive feedback from other users, the management of NMK opted for the AXELOT WMS X5 system, for the implementation of which the specialists of the development company were invited.

The warehouse in Nalchik has an area of 6500 square meters. m.. The project team was required to implement maximum automation of all key warehouse processes. It was also necessary to take into account industry specifics: the main problem of dairy storage facilities is the need for strict control of shelf life and storage conditions. In addition, it was necessary to modernize existing business processes, as well as reduce the influence of performers on them.

One of the main requirements of the management of "NMK" was the presence of an open system configuration, which would allow to make improvements to the WMS after the end of the main project.

AXELOT specialists implemented the integration of WMS with weighing equipment at the dairy warehouse for carrying out weight control after selecting goods from the shipping documentation. Also, the AXELOT WMS X5 system was integrated with the corporate information system using the DATAREON ESB data bus.

In the warehouse, targeted storage of products and batch registration of finished products are organized. Orders are planned taking into account the remaining shelf life by counterparty, item group and FEFO.

Also, AXELOT specialists implemented a process at an automated warehouse that monitors the passage of the full technological cycle of the pallet after acceptance in automatic mode. Information on the exact number of selected packages of the weight product is uploaded from the WMS to the CIS without using mathematical formulas and without calculating the average weight of one package.

Thanks to the implementation of AXELOT WMS X5, the warehouse management of Nalchik Dairy Plant was automated, which made it possible to minimize the number of errors in the execution of the operations of acceptance, selection and shipment of goods.

WMS at the dairy warehouse tightly controls shelf life, compliance with temperature conditions and batch of goods in accordance with technical and sanitary requirements, which made it possible to reduce the number of product losses, as well as collect and operate information about the stored goods in different sections.
