The Botkin.AI platform helps the Moscow doctors to reveal lung cancer

2020: The analysis of computer tomograms and identification of symptoms of cancer of lung on them using Botkin.AI

In Moscow began to analyze computer tomograms and to reveal on them symptoms of cancer of lung artificial intelligence. On August 18, 2020 reported about it in Skolkovo Foundation. The Botkin.AI platform developed by the resident of Skolkovo Foundation Intellodzhik company is for this purpose used. Service is integrated from Uniform radiological by an information system of Moscow.

The Botkin.AI platform went through all test stages developed by the organizer of an experiment – [[NPKTs DIT DZM (Scientific and practical center of diagnostics and telemedicine technologies the Moscow Department of Healthcare)|the Center of diagnostics and telemedicine of the Moscow Department of Healthcare]], including functional testing and calibration with accuracy assessment. For August to service computer tomographs of 46 medical organizations of the capital are connected. Researches KT are automatically unloaded and analyzed by the artificial intelligence (AI). Within the experiment in Moscow tomograms for the purpose of diagnosis of lung cancer are analyzed only by one service – Botkin.AI. More than seven thousand researches are processed already. It is monthly going to analyze over 20 thousand tomograms.

"The algorithm is capable to process all flow of researches in real time, without breaks and days off. As a result of such processing, first of all, results of researches with pathology will be sent to the doctor. So the radiologist will do descriptions not in that order in what patients conducted researches, and on confidence figure of presence of pathology. First of all, the doctor will see those computer tomograms where with high probability tumoral process is detected. Such smart sorting, without exaggeration, can save to the patient life", - Sergey Morozov, the director of the Center of diagnostics and telemedicine of the Moscow Department of Healthcare.

During the experiment work on retrospective review of a large number of the KT-researches made during COVID-19 pandemic is also planned. For additional diagnosis of cancer of lung in the Botkin.AI platform the algorithm on detection of malignant new growths against the background of the syndromes characteristic of COVID-19 is implemented.

This functionality is implemented thanks to a grant of Skolkovo Foundation on the researches connected with the analysis of symptoms of a coronavirus. This project should promote implementation of the National Health care project regarding increase in a share of the revealed lung cancer at early stages.

Also within the experiment the Botkin.AI platform is going to be used for the analysis of roentgenograms regarding detection of pathologies of easy and mammographic researches for diagnosis of a breast cancer.
