The Russian Railways Holding has tested technologies for protecting communication channels at Sheremetyevo. This became known on August 11, 2021.

A 5.5 km quantum line connected Terminal F and the Data Center building located outside the airport. In real time, the stable operation of the quantum communication channel on the active fiber-optic communication line was demonstrated. Testing of the technology was carried out on the equipment of domestic companies Qrate and "Security Code," specializing in information security.

The test launch of the quantum line together with Sheremetyevo Airport specialists, as well as the experience of testing quantum equipment on the infrastructure of Russian Railways, showed the prospects for further work on the introduction of this progressive technology in the transport industry. Sheremetyevo Airport was the first among the enterprises of the aviation sector to test this technology, and it was highly appreciated by specialists in information security and network infrastructure. In particular, the specialists of JSC "MASH" noted the convenience and speed of setting up the protected communication channel, the reliability and stability of the signal, the speed of detecting attempts of unauthorized connection to the protected channel.

Technologies for ensuring the confidentiality of transmitted data are of great importance for such key infrastructure facilities as Sheremetyevo Airport.
