The system of protection of workstations based on Forefront Client Security in BDO group (Russia)

The Softline company completed the project on system deployment of protection of workstations based on Forefront Client Security for BDO group (Russia) as a result of which the customer received a single system of antivirus protection as the most important part of a corporate system of information security.

For protection of IT infrastructure at the Russian offices BDO where about 1500 employees work, the antivirus of the developer conducting in the segment was used, but over time work with it ceased suit employees for a number of reasons. The company management set to IT department the task to pick up anti-virus solution of other producer. The convenience of deployment, administration and receiving updates and also flexible reporting system became the main requirements to new software.

The partner in implementation of an antivirus was the Softline company which specialists conducted examination of the existing infrastructure, by its results proposed the solution based on Forefront Client Security and developed the project plan.

For removal of an old antivirus specialists of Softline unrolled and configured Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 using which inventory of the software in general and an antivirus in particular, the users installed on workstations was carried out. For convenience of project implementation packets of removal of an old antivirus and deployment of Forefront were created. Together with IT specialists of BDO engineers of Softline unrolled and configured the Forefront server and also politicians of scanning, installation and report forms. Such system of transition allowed to replace old anti-virus solution with the client application Forefront Client Security, for a minute without having left computers of users without protection.

All works within project implementation took about two months. Now the anti-virus solution is set at all client stations of the company. Security policies are configured taking into account the recommendations developed jointly by specialists of Softline and BDO. Fast scanning of workstations is performed daily, complete scanning is once a week executed.

One of essential advantages of new anti-virus solution IT specialists of the customer called a possibility of operational and regular updating: anti-virus bases – several times in day, an antivirus and the operating system – in process of a release of new versions. According to preliminary estimates, after implementation of Forefront Client Security of a labor cost on computers of users decreased by mitigation of consequences of virus activity by 4-6 times. The number of addresses of users to a support service was reduced and also employee performance in general considerably increased including due to increase in speed of operation of the PC.
