History

2023: Opening of the Engine Engineering Development Center

PJSC UEC-Kuznetsov (Samara, part of the United Engine Corporation, UEC) commissioned a center for design development and scientific research worth 1.5 billion rubles. The press service of Rostec (UEC is part of this state corporation) announced this on June 23, 2023. Read more here.

2019: Production of gas turbine engine parts started by 3D printing

The United Engine Corporation (UEC), part of Rostec State Corporation, has commissioned the largest direct laser growth plant in Russia made of powdered metal materials. This was reported on April 4, 2019 by TAdviser in Rostec.

The installation is a transparent sealed chamber. All work is carried out by a robot, the hand of which is equipped with a special spray head

The development of the technology for the production of large-sized parts for industrial gas turbine engines takes place at the Samara enterprise PJSC Kuznetsov (part of the UEC). The technology consists in layer-by-layer creation of large-sized body parts on a 3D printing machine. A jet of metal powder is fed to the workpiece, and a laser beam heats the powder to fuse it. The unit itself is a transparent sealed chamber. All work is carried out by a robot, the hand of which is equipped with a special spray head, which allows you to change the type of powder supplied directly during growing.

Additive technologies are being actively introduced at Rostec production facilities. First of all, in the engine industry, where 3D printing gives undeniable advantages. Such technologies make it possible to reduce the production cycle of parts by more than half, reduce the number of elements of the final design, they are more economical and environmentally friendly. By 2021, on the basis of PJSC Kuznetsov, it is planned to manufacture more than 50 elements for modern gas turbine engines using this method, - said Oleg Yevtushenko, executive director of Rostec.

According to Rostec, the technology of 3D printing of large-sized parts for industrial gas turbine engines allows you to produce products up to 2.5 m in diameter. Parts for the industrial gas turbine engine NK-36ST were chosen as pilot products. The specialists of the enterprise also conduct research on the properties of all grown samples.

In Kuznetsov, work in this area is being carried out within the framework of the federal target program "Research and development in priority areas for the development of the scientific and technological complex of Russia for 2014-2020." The customer of the work is the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the contractor and creator of 3D printing equipment is Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, and the industrial partner is Kuznetsov PJSC. The co-executor is Samara University, which produced a nozzle for coaxial supply of metal powder.

2011

Kuznetsov, which in 2010-2011 included four Russian engine-building enterprises in the aviation and space industries, is engaged in the production of engines for Soyuz and Soyuz-2 launch vehicles, the repair of engines for Tu-160, Tu-22M3 and Tu-95 strategic bombers, as well as the production of gas turbine installations for pipeline transport Gazprom"."
