The Neftekamsk Automotive Plant transfers design preparation of production to 3D - technologies. As a single software platform for design the KOMPAS-3D system from ASCON company is selected. Works on software implementation and training of employees are executed by ASCON-Ufa, the platinum partner of ASCON.

JSC Neftekamsk Automotive Plant (NefAZ) is included into JSC KAMAZ group of companies and is the producer of special superstructures, largest in Russia, on the KAMAZ chassis. The plant produces an extensive lineup of buses, special superstructures on the chassis of cars, the capacity and bulk equipment, onboard trailers and semi-trailers, a haymaking complex, spare parts in lots.

Software products of ASCON are involved in design and technology preparation of production NefAZ.

As told Tadviser in ASCON-Ufa, as well as everywhere, on NefAZ the different CAD systems were used earlier and development process was broken into the sections and stages which are almost poorly connected among themselves. So automation of process was "piecewise uchastochnaya" and it was directed mainly to release of design documentation.

Now (since the beginning of 2011) at the enterprise it is headed for mass transition to modeling, and the most important, all product development process should become end-to-end from beginning to end and with integration of all participants in real time. But there is more to come. DTPP (design-technology preparation of production) and production managements is going to integrate process of design preparation of production into the general end-to-end system.

The COMPASS 3D is selected not accidentally. First, on the functionality it does not concede to other systems. Secondly, the Compas-Grafik was the most mass CAD system at the enterprise. And thirdly, KOMPAS is a part of the complete solution ASCON for automation of KTPP.

In 2011 the plant doubled number of users 3D - systems due to equipping of jobs of the designers who were earlier working only with two-dimensional design tools. As a result of 128 engineers use for development of drawings an automated design engineering system the Compas-Grafik and 50 specialists work with three-dimensional models in the KOMPAS-3D system.

In the nearest future the Neftekamsk Automotive Plant is going to perform all works on design preparation of production on technology of three-dimensional modeling in KOMPAS-3D, implementing classical process – from the idea to associative volume model and from model to design documentation. Broad application 3D - modeling is a mainstream technology in world automotive industry in line with which the NefAZ builds the development.

Arguments for benefit of paradigm shift of design and mass transition to KOMPAS-3D are given by the chief designer of JSC Neftekamsk Automotive Plant Smirnov Oleg Nikolaevich: "Advantages 3D - modeling in comparison with two-dimensional structural design quite notable. This, first, evident space representation of construction with a possibility of animation of movable connections, rather easy creation of drawings from 3D models, including cuts and types, with an exception of errors in putting down of dimensional parameters. Secondly, fast determination of weight, volume and other mechanical product characteristics in the automatic mode and also determination of technological effectiveness of construction in general and its components, detection and elimination of harmful contacts. Thirdly, this existence of modules for implementation of strength calculations. KOMPAS-3D are a system computer 3D - modeling, the ESKD which is completely conforming to the Russian requirements having in the built-in reference books the main materials, fasteners, templates, standard component parts according to GOST that considerably simplifies and accelerates work of the designer".

As the next stage of improvement of business processes in design divisions NefAZ this year automation of design preparation of production in one of leaders of CB on the basis of a software package of ASCON including a management system for engineering data of LOTSMAN:PLM, the KOMPAS-3D system, Corporate reference books "Materials and Ranges" and "Standard Products" is planned. Further integration of a complex of ASCON with other enterprise information systems and its full-scale implementation in all divisions occupied in design preparation of production is supposed.
