The modern IT platform for the Belgorod university of cooperation, economy and the right

The Softline company completed the project on upgrade of IT-systems of the Belgorod university of cooperation, economy and the right, having built the new modern IT platform.

Before the management of institute there was a problem of transition to automated systems and the latest information technologies which would allow to increase learning efficiency, communications and managements. The decision to implement products of Microsoft, in particular, System Center Configuration Manager and Operation Manager, Exchange Server 2010 was made and also to create a virtual network and the failsafe platform for new services.

At the first stage of cooperation specialists of Softline conducted preproject examination, having attentively studied a current status of a system and requirement of university. Together with IT specialists of the university formulated new requirements to the equipment and software.

On the next stage the university received the required software and the equipment. All works on implementation took place in the summer when educational process is not conducted. Within July-August of the current year the project was completely implemented by forces of specialists of Softline and the staff of the university.

As a result of the carried-out works the university received the new modern IT platform. The last achievements in the field of virtualization were used thanks to what it was succeeded to reduce considerably the number of the equipment for maintenance of services. There was an opportunity to change cardinally group politicians, to differentiate access rights, having increased information security. Considerable improvements managed to achieve in such processes as monitoring of a system and diagnostics of faults.

At the system level this project was the first experiment of the university on use of virtualization in infrastructure. Student's virtual machines were used in educational process and earlier, but it had local character. Possibilities of virtualization of the last solutions of Microsoft are widely known: fast deployment of virtual servers, operational execution of tasks, etc.

As in university there are also information specialties, the servers working running different operating systems are very often necessary. Virtual servers will allow to make the organization of educational process simple and effective.

The Exchange 2010 installation became a major step in comparison with old corporate solution forward. The staff of the university had an opportunity to use new calendars and address directories. Reliability, availability and security of confidential information increased. The service Exchange 2010 allowed to unload an electronic document management system and to make it more effective.

"Such projects are very necessary in educational institutions: usually here care for external structure of information systems more, and questions of administration and support of network traditionally fade into the background.
