IBS unrolled for itself a private cloud

IBS Platformix completed the project of upgrade of IT infrastructure of IBS company.

Preparation

The decision on upgrade of IT infrastructure of IBS is made proceeding from two main premises characteristic of most the medium-sized and large Russian enterprises. First, for the last 3-5 years there were significant changes in technologies and the principles of creation of effective IT infrastructures. Secondly, the physical wear of the existing equipment in connection with insufficient funding of IT and increase in lives of the equipment during crisis affected.

Continuation of operation of the existing equipment could lead to the permanent growth of costs for maintenance of infrastructure and scaling of systems.

The analysis of possible ways of upgrade of IT infrastructure of IBS showed that in terms of total costs on infrastructure the most effective is the total failure from the existing infrastructure and deployment of a corporate private cloud based on the HP solution of CloudSystem Matrix.

Solution

Based on the equipment of HP CloudSystem Matrix new cloud infrastructure of the company is created. All applied information systems IBS (in total more than 100 systems) are transferred to it. Former IT infrastructure is completely contracted. In a project deliverable it is going to reduce significantly own operating costs of IBS of IT.

Cumulative investments into the project made $2 million. Project implementation term from a decision instant was 10 months.

The project is implemented by forces of specialists of department of information technologies and department of system solutions of the company IBS, the companies HP, IBS Platformix and IBS DataFort.

DPC

The main and reserve DPC are designed based on the new server hardware and DWH. As the technological solution for creation of a pool of virtual resources were selected CloudSystem Matrix blade-HP servers, and for ensuring continuous replication of data – the software of HP of EVA Continuous Access. As the software of virtualization of DPC the solution VMware vSphere as the most developed platform for creation of cloud infrastructures is selected. Thus, use of modern products and solutions for creation of new IT infrastructure became a guarantee of flexibility, scalability and controllability approximately for 7 years.

Opinion

Sergey Matsotsky, CEO of IBS: "By transition to cloud infrastructure we solved a number of important problems in the field of IT support of business of the company. First, the cloud provides the maximum simplicity and speed of scaling of computing infrastructure: now we can quickly provide additional server capacities according to the requirements arising at business users. Secondly, we received much more failsafe infrastructure. Besides, we expect significant reducing costs for support of IT infrastructure for the expenditure account on personnel and placement of servers. For example, regarding placement we are going to cut down expenses approximately for 50%".

In the long term (5 years) reduction of the IT budget to two times at steadily high quality of work of all IT infrastructure is supposed. Calculations of cost efficiency of the project of upgrade of IT infrastructure included not only initial non-recurring and subsequent current capital costs but also, the main thing, expenses on support.

Georgy Polikhronidi, CEO of IBS Platformix: "Transition to a private cloud is not an abstract immense task, but the standard project with the known values on inputs exits and the predicted implementation term. We speak not about a pig in a poke any more, and about the principles of creation and infrastructure management which showed the efficiency in the large organization. It is sure, in the long term 3-5 years will happen mass migration both in private, and in public clouds. At the same time many of these projects will become continuation of the experience got by us".

It allows the large companies to change a method of provision of services, and small – it is more effective to use IT for development of own business".
