Taurus Bank Ltd puts new failsafe IT infrastructure into production operation

Taurus Bank completed the construction in the Moscow branch of failsafe IT infrastructure. The contractor in the project - Microtest system integrator.

Tasks

The bank branch in Moscow is open at the end of 2011. By the time of the beginning of its work in the new premises it was necessary to create reliable base for IT services. According to plans of bank, IT infrastructure should be ready to growth of loading in process of increase in number of transactions, and time of elimination of interruptions should not exceed 5 minutes. The partner in creation of IT infrastructure, in requirements of bank, should have staff of specialists which would allow to execute the project in 1 month and to provide fault tolerance of IT infrastructure using technologies of virtualization. As the contractor the Microtest system integrator was invited.

Solution

IT infrastructure in the Moscow branch Taurus Bank (closed joint stock company) is built from the very beginning. Works are carried out in three steps:

• creation of network infrastructure;
• delivery and setup of a storage system;
• delivery and setup of the server hardware.

The fault tolerance IT infrasruktury is guaranteed, on the one hand, by the duplicated architecture of all its physical components. On the other hand, the fault tolerance is provided with virtualization at the level of applications.

The server hardware is virtualized based on software of VMware vSphere 4 Enterprise Plus. Possibilities of this platform provide runtime allocation of load of servers, the continuity of work of IT services even at breakdown of a part of the equipment, recovery of operation of servers at most within 5 minutes after failure.

Jobs of users are virtualized using VMware View software. All staff of the Moscow bank branch works on virtual machines; they can use a number of corporate applications far off. Data with which users work remain safe even in case of breakdowns of thin clients.
