The Research Institute of Precision Instruments chose ELAR Corporation as a technical partner for the implementation of a project to create an electronic library of dictionaries and reference books.
ELAR Corporation, commissioned by the Research Institute of Precision Instruments, has begun work on the digitization and retroconversion of rare funds of foreign dictionaries. At the first stage, a unique Sino-Russian dictionary published in Shanghai, consisting of 2975 thin, translucent pages, was digitized.
To digitize an unusual tome, ELAR specialists used the PlanScan book scanner of the "C" series, specially designed to perform such complex work. Highly sensitive optics and a contactless scanning method allow you to digitize book holdings with printing quality, ensuring the safety of the originals. The scanning process also used software technology to improve image quality, which allows you to automatically correct the bend of the spine on electronic images, align the curvature of the lines and improve the clarity of the image.
