Nizhnevartovsk GRES Ltd implements technologies of asset management of software

The Softline company completed an implementation project of technology of software management – Software Asset Management (SAM) – for Nizhnevartovsk GRES Ltd. As a basis the solution Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) for which the module Asset Management Module was prepared is used.

Approach

The management of IT department of Nizhnevartovsk GRES Ltd was faced by a task of optimization of structure of the available software products for the purpose of identification and an exception of the legal risks which are inevitably arising when using the unlicensed software. Besides, it was required to minimize the financial expenses connected with the enterprise software.

Vladimir Razuvaev, the Head of Department of SAM of Softline company, noted: "In this project it was pleasant to us to see that the client very scrupulously approached a question of management of program assets still until as Softline was invited for implementation of the project. The customer's employees completely owned a situation – knew all main questions arising at management of program assets, and in the documents confirming legitimacy of use of the software there was a complete order. For this purpose all current processes of the customer were properly studied, reengineering of the current processes is carried out and new approach to management of program assets is formalized. I will note that to us it was very comfortable to work as all project participants on SAM from the customer accurately understood his purposes, tasks and advantages".

Solution

During implementation of technology of management of software licenses general audit of the used software is made, on the basis of the software module of Asset Management Module (ITMan) developed by Softline company the uniform base of documents of title on it is created by software.

Specialists of Softline developed and "Provision on software management" and all accompanying procedures and politicians implemented, made and approved the list of the standard and specialized software permitted to use in the company. Upon completion of the project specialists of Softline trained the staff of IT department of power plant in necessary skills and working methods with the used means of the automated inventory.

As a part of department of ASUP Nizhnevartovsk GRES Ltd the employee executing functional obligations of the manager of SAM for maintenance and development of technology of management of licenses for the purpose of achievement of the following level of a maturity of SAM by the company – dynamic – the highest level at which the management of program assets implemented in real time seems not an instrument for ensuring of operability of business, but an asset of the enterprise is appointed.

Result

Implementation of SAM allowed power plant not only to minimize legal and business risks, but also to cut down a capital expenditure of the IT budget. Now the level of a maturity of SAM in the company – rationalized.
