2021: Initiation of criminal proceedings due to extortion of $11 million from a partner

In mid-February 2021, it became known about the initiation of a criminal case under Article 3 of Art. 163 of the Criminal Code (extortion) against Andrei Rogachev. An application for the founder of the Pyaterochka chain of stores was submitted by his former business partner, the head of the Gremm Group, Mikhail Goryainov.

According to Kommersant, Andrei Rogachev demands a stake in the business from Goryainov, which is estimated at $20 million. We are allegedly talking about the building of a once large technical center on Volgograd Prospekt and the Usachevsky market in Moscow, which is under the control of the Gremm Group. According to the newspaper, in evidence of extortion, Goryainov provided the UK with correspondence and recordings of conversations with Rogachev.

The establishment of a criminal case against Rogachev was also reported by the Baza Telegram channel. According to him, the businessman is suspected of extorting $11 million in the form of interest of the company he founded with Goryainov.

Rogachev is inaccessible to the investigation, as he is abroad, notes. In Kommersant a conversation RBC with the entrepreneur, he said that he had learned about the institution of a criminal case from the press and did not know its details.

Goryainov, in turn, told the publication that he filed an application for Rogachev back in 2016 and does not know why the story was developed only now. He stated that he had already been called for questioning. In what status, the businessman did not specify.

According to Ren TV, on the night of February 16, 2021, law enforcement officers detained Denis Zhuravlev, an alleged accomplice of Andrei Rogachev, in Moscow. According to the investigation, in 2016 Rogachev conspired with 32-year-old Zhuravlev, and he organized the forceful capture of the Usachevsky market, helping the founder of Pyaterochka put pressure on Mikhail Goryainov, who partially owned the object.[12][13]

Interesting facts

2012 - announced its intention to create a network of discounters in the United States, similar in description to Pyaterochka. Plans for 2012 include the opening of up to 60 stores in Florida, and in 2016 the chain should consist of 400 points with annual revenue of $1 billion[14].

2012 - investment division of TerraOn Holding BVO holding the AgroTrade International BV company plans to open network of retail shops in the USA[15].

2012 - announced its intention to create an exact copy of the Pyaterochka discounter network in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Frank plans to open the first stores under the working name in November, and within three years the businessman intends to open at least 400 points[16].
