Integration with VMware vCenter SRM is provided in the software of IPM of Eaton company by default. The program synchronizes virtual machines and automatically starts the plan of recovery for the purpose of prevention of data loss and reduction of a downtime at emergence of interruptions in power supply. The software version of IPM 1.5 is created on the platform which gives the chance to data processing centers and IT managers to organize groups of virtual machines and to define their priority within VMware vCenter SRM.

Using the solution IPM 1.5, end users can independently define time of shutdown of virtual machines in case of interruption in supply of the electric power. At the expense of it crucial devices will continue the work, and other will be switched-off. Big degree of universality and protection is provided to these.

IPM 1.5 is optimized for work with management systems for energy of Eaton company which include the uninterruptible power supply units (UPSU), modules of load distribution (ePDU) and other feed arrangements. Via the VMware vSphere 5.5 virtualization platform. Software of IPM it is compatible to the last ePDU platform of third generation from Eaton company, and it means - end users receive a single platform for management of energy and can control operation of several devices at once using the systems of virtualization.

To software of Eaton Intelligent Power Manager of version 1.5 it is available in the free basic packet supporting up to 10 devices of network and in the form of the expanded platform offering to end users additional functions and support to 100 devices for formation of an optimal monitoring system and management of energy.

2012

Infrastructure management of power supply of the virtual platform is extremely important for ensuring reliable and trouble-free operation of IT applications. Software of Eaton Intelligent Power solves this problem due to integration into the VMware vCenter platform and implementation of control functions by power supply. Thus, the user has an opportunity to control work of all uninterruptible power supply units (UPSU) and rack modules of power distribution (ePDU) by means of one application, providing, in addition, information on network condition, physical servers and data warehouses. Intelligent Power software also helps to minimize or even to exclude idle times of crucial business applications in case of shutdown of power supply. For example, at failure of the software local power source Intelligent Power uses the solution of VMotion vCenter for imperceptible transfer of the virtual machine from the server affected by shutdown on other server of network, protecting integrity of data at power supply failures.

The diversified industrial corporation Eaton announced in September, 2012 release of upgraded version of the software for management of power supply of Intelligent Power Manager with new opportunities of disaster recovery using VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager. This updating provides automatic synchronization of the virtual machine and initiates backup that allows to avoid data loss and to reduce a downtime of servers in case of blackout. Eaton is the first industrial company which received the certificate of VMware Ready which offers such opportunities within this platform.

Usually, when the virtualized data processing center is deenergized, the technicians should begin system recovery in a certain sequence, often without locating enough time. The latest version of Intelligent Power Manager of Eaton company increases performance and reduces a response time thanks to immediate identification of the place of power failure, beginning process of backup and starting the system of disaster recovery of VMware Site Recovery Manager.

Integration of VMware Site Recovery Manager and Intelligent Power Manager allows IT personnel to browse, control and manage not only physical and virtual servers, but also the systems of regular power supply, distribution frames of a power supply and other devices, using the VMware's vCenter Server platform.

In December, 2012 the Eaton corporation announced release of upgraded version of the software of Intelligent Power Manager for monitoring and device management of a power supply in IT infrastructure and data processing centers (DPC).
