ElarScan technologies expand the digital fund of the Kuban archive

2025: Delivery of three ElarSCAN A2-800KS

The State Archive of the Krasnodar Territory continues to systematically develop the direction of digitization: three ElarSKAN A2-800KS have been delivered to the institution. Elar announced this on September 3, 2025.

For the largest archival storage in the region, where as of September 2025 there are more than 920,000 storage units on different media, and the total length of shelves exceeds 21 km, transferring demanded documents to electronic form is a priority task that allows you to carefully work with funds and expand access to sources of regional history.

Planetary scanners have supplemented the digital fleet of previously supplied professional equipment: the archive already uses, among other things, ELAR scanners of the A0 format. This combination solves a wide range of problems: A0 systems take over work with large-format materials, while ElarScan is A2-800KS optimal for high-performance streaming digitization of books and sheets of pre-A2 + format, including fragile and worn ones. ElarScan A2-800KS are equipped with a transformable cradle with the ability to work both in flat mode (180 ° opening) and in V-mode (120 °) - this ensures correct shooting of sewn originals with full and incomplete opening. Integrated flat pressure glass smoothes pages and speeds up streaming scanning. Optical zoom allows you to quickly adapt to the original format to A2 + without losing quality.

The camera provides shooting with a resolution of 600-1000 dpi, and a special UltraHQ mode (400 megapixels) gives maximum detail for complex objects: documents with faded text, handwritten materials, small characters and strokes. Image quality complies with international ISO, FADGI and Metamorfoze standards, which is important for long-term storage and scientific use of digital copies.

As part of the implementation of the regional target program "Kuban Information Society (2012-2015)," ELAR Corporation installed in the State Archive of the Krasnodar Territory a planetary book scanning complex ELAR PlanScan series "S."

The equipment is designed for careful digitization of dilapidated documents, archival businesses, books and magazines. Highly sensitive optics and a contactless scanning method allow you to make electronic copies of originals with printing quality, while ensuring their safety.

In parallel, ELAR Corporation is working to create an information structure of reference and search tools for documents of the State Archive of the Krasnodar Territory. The resource will increase the efficiency of the archive staff and reduce the time for the execution of requests and requests from citizens.
