NetApp Connect

In May, 2013 the Netapp company announced a release of the solution Netapp Connect which is designed to provide secure, convenient and quick access from mobile devices to the data which are stored in DWH of Netapp. The solution created based on the technology purchased by Netapp at ionGrid company is easily integrated into environments of Netapp needlessly in difficult setup of VPN network or in passing of additional authentication. Besides, all data remain in local storage system, at the same time ease of access for users and simplicity of management for the organization are provided.

Rapid distribution of mobile devices provides convenience of remote work and can promote performance improvement of individual employees. However, because of need to get access to corporate files and documents from any place and from any device end users often neglect requirements of IT security, using unreliable public cloud services that security of corporate data endangers. As Alan Pelz-Sharpe, the head of research works, 451Research notes: "The user services occupied the niche in the corporate world for a long time. The staff of the companies uses own cloud services for storage of work files, to get access to which as easy as shelling pears. Such state of affairs remains a huge problem for the enterprises, it becomes more difficult to control security of these data".

NetApp Connect supplements a line of the mobile solutions developed by Netapp together with partners into which the products Citrix ShareFile and the VMware Horizon software package also enter, allowing NetApp to offer corporate customers even more new opportunities. The solutions developed together with partners integrated with control functions by data of DWH of Netapp (or architecture of clustered Data ONTAP), provide effective and safe cooperation, file sharing and mobile data access.

The Netapp Connect application functions as well as any other application for iPhone or iPad. However, it is the high-managed solution and creates a safe container on the mobile device, allowing to store data under constant control. It also allows heads of IT departments to lift management of corporate data and access for users to them to new level that provides observance of the existing rules and the politician and gives confidence that the queried information will get on the necessary device to the necessary employee in due time. NetApp Connect does not require difficult installation and also copying or data translation therefore installation of the application will occupy a minimum of time and will provide reliable data protection of the company. Now data remain under reliable protection of the corporate firewall and are not copied in a cloud environment that ensures uncompromising safety of access to corporate data and reliability of management of IT infrastructure. At the same time data can be in house directories, on Microsoft SharePoint or in applications of internal networks.
