After university, there was an opportunity to enter graduate school. Instead, I decided to go see the army. He served a year in Novocherkassk. I faced hazing, like everyone else, but the fighting backstory helped. He automated the accounting of fuel and lubricants (before that everything was on paper). The Zampolites offered to stay on the contract as captain. Dmitry refused.

2014: Emigration to Portugal

In 2014, he decided with his wife that "it's time to fall."

During this time (10 years) we took a mortgage, bought an apartment, sold an apartment, bought a house for a mortgage. Sold the house with a big plus, ended up with money. We honestly earned more from this than from all my work. There was an airbag, they decided to choose a country to move. Compiled a huge check list in Excel with many parameters. Education, ecology, costs, conditions of permanent residence. These included Canada, New Zealand, Uruguay, Costa Rica, Thailand. But there was no Portugal. We checked the endpoints of the check list. We traveled to Europe, were in Bali, Indonesia. I really liked Costa Rica. But the training system there seemed weak. Our eldest son was already in the first grade, and secondary education did not suit there. Wife's friend offered Portugal. I remembered how I watched football as a child, Porto against Spartak. Maybe fly-see?.. Decided!
Arrived in the country, and immediately liked everything. People, climate, nature. My wife and I are into diving. Arrived in Portimau (a city in the south of the country). From there it is convenient to explore the coast of southern Portugal. They went either to the west or to the east of the country, studied, investigated. As a result, Lagush was chosen. There were diving centers, and flooded ships that are interesting to look at. We were just thinking about opening our dive center. They formed a company with lawyers, through it they decided to legalize. They opened us the tax number of the company, social numbers for us, its "employees." These numbers, by the way, eventually left for our addresses in Russia, there was a whole problem with them. Rented a room for a dive center, purchased equipment, issued signs. Since the IT theme was familiar to us, they themselves made the site, the logo, launched promotion in social networks. The first customers, by the way, were from Russia.
The Schengen visa ended, returned to the Russian Federation to extend it. And they told us - we don't give, there are rules, only in three months. All our plans have collapsed. The equipment was idle, the rent was paid... Celebrated the New Year in Russia. He invited his wife to buy tickets as tourists, our visa was a few days away. And we were released, we were able to come. I can't convey the feeling: from the Moscow mud get into the local sun. Just chic. I didn't want to go back after that at all
. Portugal
has migrant assistance centres. And we were told that before the schengen ends, we need to have time to file documents. To do this, you need a tax number, a social security number and a work contract. Since the company was ours, we made a work contract for ourselves (wife - manager, I - director). Submitted documents for temporary residence (it gives the opportunity to live for a year). The main thing: while the legal process is underway, you can legally stay in Portugal as much as you like! You can work, but you can't leave. If you leave, the review period will be interrupted, and it will be necessary to resubmit the document. But we did not want to leave.
Waited a year and a half. Unfortunately, it turned out that the invitation to receive documents came, again, to the old address in Russia. We didn't even get a call when we didn't show up. As a result, we did not come for registration, and during this time our invitation was canceled. Receiving a residence failed. Shock.
It's been about a year, my wife got pregnant. She was a diving instructor, and now she couldn't train. And I wasn't that interested. I didn't see the point in the diving center, I didn't want to hire a staff. And even that there was an opportunity to stay in the country, the prospects are vague. Sold it to the British.
And
then I met a man from a real estate agency. They were just an old developer, leaving, the site fell down. I corrected everything, and I was given a legal job. Put on the minimum wage (€740). But they submitted documents to the migration service that now we have a worker, not a business contract. It turns out that under a work contract in Portugal, everything goes much faster than in business. It is considered locally, and in business - goes to Lisbon. Therefore, after three months, we received temporary residence and exhaled freely.
