In the middle of November, 2013 the France Informatique & Technologie (FIT) company announced implementation in network of product supermarkets SEVEN in Nizhny Novgorod of the cash systems of self-service (self-checkout)of NCR SelfServ Checkout allowing buyers to scan, pack and pay independently goods.

The project was started in the Volga region in two supermarkets of SEVEN network. On October 23 in Nizhny Novgorod the new supermarket of this network in the innovation format of cash services in which four devices of cash self-service are the share of only one traditional cash desk with the cashier opened. At the same time the only traditional cash desk performs support functions and, first of all, serves for providing tobacco products and design of bonus cards, tell in FIT.

The second shop participating in the project, according to representatives of FIT, worked for a long time. In the middle of November in it replaced two of three traditional cash desks with cashiers with two cash desks of self-service and applied the innovation model of cash self-service by analogy with the first supermarket which minimizes participation of cashiers in the course of purchases.

In SEVEN network expect that cash desks of self-service in its shops will allow to make purchases by more comfortable, to reduce queues, to avoid possible errors of cashiers. "Most of buyers at visit of shop consider the most important passing through point of sale, especially in the period of peak loads", add to the companies.

Plans in November, 2013 to start cash desks of self-service in one of the shops were announced also by large retail network of cosmetics, perfumery and goods for the house "A rainbow smile" in St. Petersburg. The company expects that the new equipment will allow to reduce queues by 12% and to increase inflow of buyers to shop by 15%.

In August, 2013 also one of the largest retailers of Krasnoyarsk –Komandor network tried to use cash desks of self-service, and in October this project gained development: in particular, in two shops of network 8 cash desks of self-service of NCR SelfServ Checkout, on 4 pieces on shop were set.

By pioneers in use of this technology in Russia it is possible to call Magnoliya and Globus networks[[Globe of Ltd company |]] which began implementation of cash desks of self-service in the shops in 2012. In 2013 both projects gained development. So, in the summer Magnolia expanded the project to 34 cash desks in 21 shops of the network, and announced Globe in September that it after successful implementation of cash desks of self-service in Vladimir and the Queen in 2012, made the decision on their implementation and in other cities of Russia.

The chief executive of FIT Elena Kudrina notes that, unlike the West, in Russia implementation of technology of cash self-service of self-checkout (SCO) started only in 2012, and it still rather new phenomenon for the domestic market, despite wide popularity abroad.

Implementation of SCO technology is a difficult project of transformation of business, the project of increase in its efficiency which stages include the correct goal setting (KPI), determination of the corresponding principles of use of self-chekaut, personnel training, etc., Kudrina adds.

"It is necessary to carry out software integration of SCO with the cash software, with the back office system of the retailer, with his loyalty systems, to adapt work of all complex to business processes of the retailer (to carry out customization), - the chief executive of FIT says. - At the correct approach such investments pay off quickly enough, but in Russia there are not enough specialists capable so far it is qualitative to carry out all project cycle of implementation of technology of cash self-service".

2014

Project Development

On June 17, 2014 the FIT company announced installation of the cash systems of self-service NCR SelfServ Checkout (SSCO) at the Nizhny Novgorod retailer of SEVEN company.

In two cities - Nizhny Novgorod and Sarov, installation and start of ten cash systems of self-service is carried at the same time out:

  • on Piskunov Street, 41 ("The Nizhny Novgorod supermarket") — 4 systems
  • on Moskovskaya Street, 27 (Shopping Center SEVEN in Sarov) — 4 of "cash desk without cashier"
  • on Poltavskaya Street, 2a (Nizhny Novgorod) — 2 devices.

Total quantity of the systems of self-service in SEVEN network for June 17, 2014 of 16 units.

Project Continuation

On November 6, 2014 the France Informatique & Technologie (FIT) company announced development of an implementation project of the cash systems of self-service of NCR FastLane SelfServ Checkout in the Nizhny Novgorod network of product supermarkets SEVEN.

In shop of network, in Indigo shopping Center (Nizhny Novgorod), the cash register line was replenished with six cash desks of self-service (self-chekauta, self-checkouts, SCO), on Piskunov Street, 41 ("The Nizhny Novgorod supermarket") — 2 systems are added and on Moskovskaya Street, 27 (Shopping Center SEVEN in Sarov) — in addition installs 2 systems.

The total quantity of devices of self-service in SEVEN network makes 26 units.

Elena Kudrina, the chief executive of FIT company, noted: "Our client — SEVEN supermarket chain in Nizhny Novgorod — for several months of use of cash desks of self-service managed to estimate their efficiency and increased their quantity. What does it speak about? The people accepted and actively use this innovation in retail: the consumer flow going through self-chekauta grows: both in the capital, and in regions. Means, the Russian market did not become an exception of universal trends, and technology of cash self-service are capable to increase really efficiency of retail networks in new economic conditions".
