On December 20, 2013 the Softline company announced the final of implementation of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager in Condé Nast Russia publishing house.
Project Tasks
In 2013 in Condé Nast Russia there was a need for preparation for the international audit. The publishing house needed to carry out inventory available program and the hardware, to estimate compliance of the used software to purchased and to update it in case of need and also to check workstations and servers for compliance to corporate standards. Feature of the project was the fact that the part of the PC park of the customer was running Windows, another – under Mac OS.
For the complete solution of a task the modern system of centralized operation by IT infrastructure was required for publishing house. The company Softline with which at the customer the long-term contract is signed became the partner in project implementation Enterprise Agreement Subscription. Specialists of department of solutions Microsoft of the company Softline suggested Condé Nast Russia to implement a product System Center Configuration Manager 2012 which gives an opportunity of carrying out cross-platform audit. The new version of the solution supports control functions by clients Apple Mac.
Project Progress
The project deadline made one month. The analysis of infrastructure of the customer is carried out and the technical specifications are prepared. The configuration of the SCCM server and installation of agents on computers of pilot group became the first stage of the project. After carrying out inventory of existing applications images of workstations and packets of deployment of software for both platforms were created. During testing of errors in system operation it was not revealed. Installation of agents on all workstations of the company became a final part of the project.
Project Results
Convenient and fast software installation helped to optimize process of deployment of applications and service packs. Also this system allowed to manage process of preparation of new jobs in the automatic mode.
Dmitry Klichugin, the Chief information officer of Condé Nast Russia publishing house, noted: "We felt need for the tool for centralized operation of software and control of jobs long ago. According to requirements of the international audit the company is obliged to use the centralized control system and control of jobs. Implementation of policy of Patch management is an obligatory component of its successful passing. Implementation of Microsoft System Center allowed to solve quickly and in a complex this problem".
