Kari upgraded an IT environment

On January 20, 2014 the Fujitsu company announced implementation, within upgrade of the park of the server hardware of KARI company, servers of a line of RX - Fujitsu PRIMERGY RX900, RX500 and RX200.

Project Progress

Together with consulting company Columbus IT, KARI performed start of own uniform corporate information system in four countries of presence. ERP is its component and a key IT system operated in the company.

The choice of the supplier of servers for ensuring her functioning was carried out among the equipment of the known world vendors. The main criteria for the management to IT specialists of KARI:

• high performance,
• optimal cost of purchase and further service maintenance.

Server solutions of Fujitsu were recognized optimal.

For upgrade of a BI system of the company the PRIMERGY RX500 S7 servers are used. Components:

• 4 processors of the Intel Xeon E5-4600 family,
• 48 modules DIMM with a total amount of memory of 1,536 GB,
• 11 PCIe Gen3 connectors connected directly to processors and 8 hard drives.

After commissioning of RX500 S7 the speed of creation of analytical reports grew several times.

The eight-processor Fujitsu RX900 servers became a basis for creation of a failover cluster. In PRIMERGY RX900 S2 the high-speed architecture of the interprocessor Intel QuickPath Interconnect (QPI) connections is applied that allows to scale easily a system to 8 processors of the Intel Xeon E7-8800 family containing up to 10 cores on the processor.

The rack Fujitsu PRIMERGY RX200 S7 server formed a basis for creation of a pool of application servers. Its configuration provides the high performance of DPC:

• processors Intel Xeon E5,
• expansibility up to 768 GB of memory
• energy efficiency up to 94%.

Project Development

On April 11, 2017 it became known of the project of upgrade of DWH for control automation (ERP systems) by the enterprise in the environment of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009.

Testing of completions of software was at a loss because of extremely slow operation of virtual servers, owing to the unsatisfactory performance of a disk subsystem. High-speed performance of a development environment and testing was required to bring the companies to acceptable level. For the solution of a task, according to the recommendations which arrived from the partner company of Columbus it was required to purchase the expanded DWH of sufficient performance level, to carry out upgrade of the existing physical Fujitsu PRIMERGY RX200 S8 servers by means of increase in disk capacity and RAM^[1].

The management of Carry LLC made the decision on acquisition and integration into the operating complex of storage system of Fujitsu ETERNUS DX200 S3.

Project Results

Main results of the project:

• The Fujitsu PRIMERGY RX200 S8 servers are upgraded (the volume of OZU is increased up to 192 GB, network adapters for connection of DWH on ISCSI are purchased 10G).
• The storage system of Fujitsu ETERNUS DX200 S3 with 48 disks on 1.2 TB, 10000 rpm is purchased and integrated.
• The full Microsoft SQL 2008 software updating to version 2012 Standard Edition is carried out.
• The existing SQL databases are moved, the total amount of data of storage was about 15 TB.
