Rzhdstroy implemented the system of the analytical reporting

On July 21, 2014 the group IBS announced project completion of implementation data warehouses and the system of the analytical reporting on platforms IBM Cognos and MS SQL in joint stock company Rzhdstroy.

Project Tasks

High production volumes, stable growth of indicators and geographically-distributed structure of divisions caused a situation at which operating control over activity of the company is complicated. The management of branches, central office of management felt the need for up-to-date and qualitative information for the analysis of productive activity and acceptance of management decisions. In these conditions heads made the decision on creation in the company of a modern automated system of collecting and processing of corporate data by means of which it is possible to control a situation in branches and the company in general and to carry out its detailed analysis in a foreground mode.

Project Progress

Project implementation was charged by IBS companies. Specialists of the contractor carried out requirements analysis of the management of customer company in information on activity of the company and formats of submission of this information, studied the available landscape of information systems. Based on the conducted examination offered the optimal target model of the organization of reporting system consisting of the uniform corporate data warehouse where data from different corporate data sources with the change history and the instrument of representation of analytical forms of the reporting are integrated.

As the platform selected MS SQL, as a reporting analysis system – a product IBM Cognos Express. During the project specialists integrated into storage data of diverse corporate systems on platforms IBM Maximo 1C Intalev MS SQL. More than 40 standard reports on all main directions are implemented: production program, biddings, engineering training, accomplishment, diagrams of production, use of machines and mechanisms and so forth.

Project Results

Rzhdstroy accelerated implementation of many business processes in the company due to obtaining more operational information, opportunities of data analysis and more high-quality reporting. Data collection from different information systems and sources and also involvement in the analysis of historical data gave the chance to the guide of the customer to see and analyze the complete information about activity of the company, to find new sources of efficiency.

Evgeny Gudkov, the deputy head of department of information technologies of JSC Rzhdstroy, noted: "Thanks to implementation of this system today logic and technologies of work of our managers with business information completely meet the most modern requirements. Business users want to obtain the most operational information today and to keep the analysis online using user-friendly friendly interfaces. In the created system we organized access to all available corporate information in a single user-friendly interface, according to needs of users and security policy of the company. Employees also note the speed of work and high quality of the obtained data".

Elena Sayapina, the director of department of financial and economic solutions IBS, told: "In this project traditionally strong key examination IBS in the field of integration and data visualization was strengthened by additional immersion in industry features. We created a set of basic reports for the construction industry, configured tools for preparation of reports "on the fly" – it demanded immersion in construction subject. We calculate that the gained knowledge will be demanded also by other customers of the construction industry. MS And IBM Cognos the technology of storage and visualization of cuts of data from different information systems which rather just adapts for use practically in any company became a technology highlight of the created solution developed on the platform".

Igor Frolov, manager of projects of IBS: "Considering a geographically-distributed structure of structural branches "Rzhdstroy" and specifics of business, it was the project, really unique and difficult for us. We achieved all planned objectives. It should be noted that data warehousing system and the analytical reporting are only iceberg top in the program of the projects directed finally to achievement of positive economic result of primary activity of the company. And therefore the fact that Rzhdstroy was succeeded to enter the automated solutions qualitatively in already existing IT landscape is especially important".

The implementation project is begun in September, 2013. In April, 2014 a system is put into operation.
