TAdviser interview

In September 2017, Timur Medzhitov in an interview with TAdviser shared his view on the Digital Economy program and the IT problems in the public sector. The disadvantages of the adopted program, in his opinion, include the absence of an explicit section about digital finance, digital healthcare and current tools - blockchain, cryptocurrencies that are already exerting their influence. Also in the program there are no sections about Internet commerce, although this is also a significant and already working part of the digital economy, affecting the way households are, he believes.

He called financing the main problem of the regions in the field of IT. In many regions, budgets have been sequestered, but the volume of already implemented systems has increased, and therefore the cost of their operation has increased. Another problem is that a federal regulatory framework has not yet been developed on some topical issues.

One of the problems at a more global level, Mejitov considers the lack of a single IT infrastructure of state departments and a single service for technical support of state services - such services are duplicated in each department. The lack of specialists in the market and restrictions in the level of training are also a problem. In his opinion, educational standards in IT require improvement.
