The Otkrytiye bank completed the project of start of storage systems and reservation of data

On September 18, 2015 it became known of implementation in Otkrytiye bank of a restoration system of data. Integrator in the IBS Platformix project. ^[1] products of implementation EMC NetWorker and EMC Data Domain^[1].

Project Tasks

For bank it was extremely important to receive the most universal solution: the implemented products should approach any systems which can be in the future used in bank potentially. It is one of criteria. Not less important factor - the scheme of licensing. The scheme which is flexibly changing payments to the partner depending on the volume of services which are consumed by bank was required.

The organization stopped the choice on EMC NetWorker and EMC Data Domain, they increase efficiency of storage of backup copies and performance, reduce costs for solutions on data protection.

Project Progress

David Martirosov, the technical director of Otkrytiye bank, told: "We stopped on licensing according to the scheme ELA (Enterprise License Agreement), the payment depends on the volume of the consumed services. We did not buy all licenses time. At first we implemented a system, analyzed how many we really consume, and after it began to pay for licenses. We carry out the analysis of volume of the consumed licenses, and our periodical payments from it change. Of course, it was possible to go according to the classical market scenario and just to purchase all volume of licenses at once. But practice shows that, doing so, banks often are mistaken. The appetite grows at meal time — begins to be wanted more and more something. Afterwards a system is put into operation and it turns out that real requirements it is less, and licenses are already purchased and that with them to do, unclear. Therefore we needed the most flexible approach which was offered by IBS Platformix company".

The project covered all systems in the organization and those that were a part of bank in the course of accession to the Khanty-Mansi bank. For September 18, 2015 in bank there is no system which is not reserved by the technological solution:

• processing systems,
• front system,
• product bek-systems.

Project Results

The project was executed within 8 months: five months - the choice of a system, implementation - three months. According to the statement of the customer representative, difficulties did not arise.

The IBS Platformix company provides support and is responsible for an infrastructure part of a backup system, and all logical part (schedules, tasks, registers, determination of need of reservation of these or those systems) is on the party of bank.

David Martirosov said: "Now in each DPC at us it is stored somewhere on the 350th terabyte. So all the 700th terabyte. Growth potential until the end of the year — up to 1000 terabyte, in my opinion. But then volume can be reduced due to failure again from systems which will become irrelevant. Among the most important and the functions, necessary for us — deduplication. Very powerful hardware solution. So high level of deduplication managed to be reached due to use of special technology which EMS use in this equipment. Still useful function — close integration with applications. In fact, it is a backup of databases through the agent. This function allows to automate backup, to make it closer to applications, to use the possibilities of the application which are specially optimized for backup. Replication between platforms — too rather interesting function. We preach the concept of the uniform distributed DPC. Virtually at us one DPC, but physically is two different platforms. It was important for us that reserve data which are stored on one platform, it is guaranteed were also on another. Respectively, when we implemented the solution, we purchased it for two platforms at once. Now they not only take away data from a system, but also give them each other. It allows in case of failure of any platform is guaranteed to have reserve data on another. And even among functions, significant for us, it is worth selecting multilevel storage.

According to David Martirosov the project will pay off in one year and two months.
