On October 19, 2015 it became known of start in St. Petersburg State University of Telecommunications of a name of the prof. M.A. Bonch-Bruyevich of the laboratory equipped with telecommunication equipment Volga of production "T8".
Project Progress
The laboratory of "The high-speed trunk DWDM systems and programmable networks" began to work on October 13, 2015 at faculty of infocommunication networks and systems (IKSS). The laboratory was equipped with the modern Russian equipment of wavelength division multiplexing Volga. The Volga platform allows to organize up to 96 channels on 100 Gbps in each channel.

In laboratory students have an opportunity to model fragments of backbone networks for researches of regional and zone sections. The laboratory will unroll the segment of programmable network (SDN) connected to a trunk segment. Using the generator of traffic simulation of data transmission between remote network segments is possible. Capacities of laboratory provide a possibility of the organization of educational and research process by department of communication networks and data transmission and also department of photonics and communication lines.
Project Results

We are going to participate in educational process actively. I have a pedagogical experience more than 10 years and to have an opportunity to impart the knowledge of youth – very cool!"
According to partners, use in educational process of the modern domestic equipment helps young specialists to gain not only necessary knowledge and qualification, but to be sure that in the country there is domestic trunk telecommunication equipment and it successfully competes with the best foreign samples. The graduate of the university will be able to gain relevant knowledge which will be demanded in its native land.
