Volga is the multiservice platform for creation of high-speed DWDM networks, supports speeds to 100 Gbps.
2016
Volga and Brocade are compatible
On November 10, 2016 the company "T8" also Brocade Russia announced testing for compatibility of 100 Gbps of the aggregating transponder of the Volga DWDM platform and the products Brocade of the FOS 7.4.x family.
Based on testing the conclusion is drawn on compatibility of products and the MS-100E-T10 block of T8 company was included into the list of the compatible equipment Brocade Fabric OS 7.x Compatibility Matrix.
Complex testing was held by Brocade Self-Certification techniques for protocols 8 GFC and 10 GFC in the R_RDY and VC_RDY modes.
The MS-100E-T10 transponder is intended for transfer of 10 client signals (10GE, STM-64, OTU2, 8/10 GFC) on 10 Gbps in one 100 Gbps the channel.
Entry into the Brocade list is next and very major step in development of our platform. It confirms that our equipment meets all modern international requirements. Certification opens new opportunities of use of our equipment on storage area networks, in large data centers. And it is not an occasion to stop. In our further plans — to undergo certification for all equipment of the Volga platform. |
Volga is upgraded
On June 7, 2016 it became known of upgrade of the multiservice platform for the organization of high-speed DWDM networks "Volga": support of speed up to 400 Gbps on one slot. The chassis of the Volga platform can be used in telecommunication racks 19/21'. Volga is optimized under high-speed transponders 100G and 400G.
- 4 types of the chassis: 10U on 13 slots, 6U on 7 slots, 3U on 3 slots and 1U of a system
- Transponders and muksponder with line speeds from 2.5 to 400 Gbps.
- Fiber amplifiers: EDFA, RAMAN and hybrid EDFA+RAMAN.
- ROADM: WSS 1×1, 1×2, 1×4, 1×9.
- 2 power supplies on 650, 850, 1200 and 1600 W.
- Chassis depth — 300 mm.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation appropriated to the DWDM platform the status of the equipment of the Russian origin. The Volga DWDM platform passed state examination and is entered in the register of the innovation products recommended for purchases on 94-FZ and 223-FZ.
A system is characterized by powerful opportunities of transport: up to 96 DWDM channels on 100 Gbps or up to 48 channels on 400 Gbps.
Became possible data transmission at speeds of 400, 100, 40, 10, 2.5 Gbps and less, upgrade without stopping of traffic. High quality of a signal, Soft-FEC and compensation of dispersion on transponders allows to enter channels on the existing lines created earlier for the organization of low-speed links. Thanks to high quality 100G DWDM of transponders transfer on superlong distances becomes available: more than 4 thousand km without use of compensators of dispersion in a cascade of amplifiers and regeneration; up to 500 km a point-to-point using remote pumping (ROPA). The latest 400 Gbps the equipment are intended for the organization of transport infrastructure of data centers and city networks. Thanks to effective SD-FEC transfer of channels to 500 km is possible.
The Volga platform is executed on modularity, standard modules are installed in 4 types of the chassis: 10U the chassis supports up to 13 blocks, chassis 6U is expected 7 blocks, 3U 3 blocks. In compact 1U option execution of any blocks from a line of the transceiving equipment of the Volga platform, including 400 Gbps the equipment is possible.
Flexibility and reservation: 1+1 and add/drop, ROADM

- Reservation 1+1 at speeds of 2.5, 10G - 2 line interface.
- Aggregators 10x10G, 4x10G, 4×2.5G, 8x1GE
- BS blocks – optical reservation of expensive interfaces 40 and 100G/400G.
Blocks of the platform support OTN with X-connect a capacity of matrix up to 40 and 100 Gbps. The next generation of the equipment will support a matrix of cross-switching with a capacity up to 1 Tbit / page Volga organizes up to 96 channels in the S-range, with a possibility of additional expansion in L-range with increase in capacity to 27 Tbit / page. All equipment "Volga" completely supports OTN technology. Elements of a system are optical transponders, amplifiers, aggregators, control blocks or a power supply — can be replaced in the "hot" mode, without switching off of the equipment and loss of traffic. Blocks of optical switching allow to create networks with reservation 1+1.

Support of OTN technology
Transponders and mukspondery-aggregators with a full support of OTN for transfer of traffic in OTN OTU1/2/3/4 format. Capacity of a matrix of OTN 40 or 100gbit/page. The next generation of the equipment will support an OTN matrix to 1tbit/page. Support of anticipatory error correction of FEC, including Super-FEC, Soft-FEC and SD-FEC.
Implementation of difficult topology
Thanks to application of WSS ROADM 1X2, 1X4, 1X9, different types of aggregators and blocks of reservation, the platform is suitable for creation of difficult network topologies with 1+1, ring reservation and mesh structure. High-speed optical and electronic switches allow to provide switching to an alternative channel less than for 50 ms even on 100G channels.
Broad spectrum of fiber amplifiers
- Low-noise erbium amplifiers (EDFA), RAMAN amplifiers with a power up to 33 dBm, amplifiers with remote pumping (ROPA), the hybrid amplifiers EDFA+RAMAN.
- Network system of management Fractal
- Provides full control and management of elements of network regardless of its scale and complexity. The graphic cover Fractal and the built-in Web interface ensures convenient remote work and setup of elements of the Volga platform.
Sizes and energy consumption
The duplicated power supplies of two types: DC 36–72 V or AC of 220 V. Energy consumption no more than 1200 W on the chassis. The chassis and monoblocks 1/3/6/10U high and 300 mm in depth for rack-mounting 19/21'.
2015
Volga passed a test in mode 100G
On July 23, 2015 the T8 company announced results of testing of the equipment "Volga" without regeneration in the real line.
A test of the line Moscow-Novosibirsk 4250 km long is passed without regeneration of a signal. Channels 100G were transmitted in two ways – through Samara and through Yekaterinburg – with reservation 1+1. Length of two shoulders is 4250 and 3400 km respectively.
Channels 100G are organized within the operating multichannel DWDM system constructed on the equipment of foreign production. During the work in such configuration to new transponders it is shown more strict requirements, than to the "native" equipment. In particular, fine tuning of power level of new 100G channels under the power level of the operating channels is necessary.
Equipment 100G "Volga" proved in a difficult configuration, providing a considerable stock on a signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR). It can do through Samara, the stock on OSNR made 7 dB, it can do through Yekaterinburg – 8.5 dB. It more than twice exceeds a required operational stock.
Indicators are reached by means of use the Russian 100G DWDM equipments "Volga", developed and made by T8 company. The value of required OSNR at the new 100G-equipment "Volga" is only 11 dB.
"We not only successfully transferred 100G channels in the DWDM system of foreign producer, but also achieved sending range, superbig for commercial networks, in a cascade of amplifiers without regeneration of a signal — 4250 km — Mikhail Sleptsov, the associate director of "T8" on project implementation noted. - Thus, we once again proved that domestic DWDM networks can be developed successfully using the Russian equipment".
Volga, 2015
The cost of the equipment "Volga" is much lower than foreign analogs. At the request of the customer, transfer of high-speed DWDM channels using Volga transponders can be provided within the working DWDM equipment of other producers.
