When MIPT started storage system of a multimedia content

On October 28, 2015 the IBS company announced project completion of creation of storage system of a multimedia content by request of Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.

Project Tasks

Developing educational technologies and advancing the concept of open education, MIPT created "Laboratory of the innovative educational technologies". For work with multimedia training materials in laboratory IT infrastructure is created. The volume multimedia storage system of digital content accumulating and processing a large number of video records and other content should become one of components of this IT infrastructure.

Create storage system invited IBS company.

The main requirement of the customer to storage system - the maximum capacity of storage with a sufficient performance, taking into account budget restrictions.

The IBS solution proposed by engineers conforms to requirements of the customer.

Project Progress

The company contractor offered MIPT high-performance storage system on Netapp E2700 platform.

NetApp E2700 is the productive and inexpensive solution for reliable data storage capable to extend in process of growth of needs of users. E2700 provides high rates of performance without complication of infrastructure and increase in housekeeping overheads. A system contains all necessary management tools disk space, service, monitoring, replication, disaster recovery.

The total volume of the delivered storage system 240 of TB. It is enough for storage more than 24 thousand hours of lectures and other video records.

Project Results

"Existence of rather high-speed, capacious and reliable storage system – extremely important condition when works on creation of electronic rates go the wide front and in the dense mode. Physics and Technology faculty sets for itself ambitious tasks of quantity of the created electronic rates therefore we decided to be prepared in advance that few years not to think of expansion of storage system", – Taras Pustovoy, the manager of LIOT MIPT told.

Creation of the project of a system, delivery, installation, setup and start are complete according to terms of reference and the contract.

For October 28, 2015 the storage system of a multimedia content of MIPT works according to the technical regulation of its operation.
