2022: Plan to create digital copies of about 2400 fragments of white stone decor of the Church of the Ascension of the Lord

In the museum-estate Kolomenskoye will create digital copies of about 2400 fragments of the white stone decor of the Church of the Ascension of the Lord, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List - work began as part of the next stage to create an electronic catalog of images of museum collections of the Archeology Foundation MGOMZ. This was announced on September 22, 2022 by Elar.

Archaeological finds to be digitized in the near future were made in trenches directly near Ascension Church, in 1973-1978 and 1990. It is assumed that these are fragments of decorative plant and geometric carvings that adorned the galleries of the temple. ELAR specialists carry out photofixing work, trying to capture each fragment of a unique thread in exactly the position in which it was most likely located in the original masonry.

This decor has not survived to this day, it was partly shot down, probably in the early years of the church's existence, "said Olga Vyacheslavovna Tatsenko, head of the Archaeology sector of the museum collections storage department. - Most likely, the galleries of the Ascension Church at the very beginning were very richly decorated with white stone ornaments in the form of grape clusters, acanthus leaves, etc. Just like the pilasters and half-columns inside the temple, the ornament on which can still be seen today. There is a version that there was a fire, at the time when wooden forests were standing around the temple under construction, and part of the carving was damaged, which is why it was decided to replace it with simpler and more concise decor. Today I see that some fragments from our collection, really wear traces of fire.

Each, even the smallest fragment, has a number of markings - the number by the receipt book, field marking - the number of the sequence in which it was discovered during excavations, and the number of the fund in which the exhibit is stored. First of all, electronic copies of museum items are created to fill the electronic database of the integrated automated museum information system (KAMIS), it is necessary to enter all information about the subject there and provide them with a high-quality digital image. The work is also important for transferring digital copies to the State Catalog of the Museum Fund of the Russian Federation and for subsequent work with the fund, studying the lost decor, creating graphic reconstructions, presentations.

Another task is to create an electronic database data of images of all fragments of the decor of the Ascension Church in order to partially reconstruct the types of carving of the gallery, - said Olga Vyacheslavovna Tatsenko. - These archaeological finds belong to the original appearance of one of the few UNESCO monuments in the territory, Moscow it is not only an architectural monument, significant for, Russia but also a world jewel. The church is in a very original, peculiar style, with pronounced Italian influence, with Renaissance carvings. Architects have already watched the collection, there is a description of these items, we also focus on it. But while we only have a general idea of how all these fragments were located in the masonry, we do not know the details and we have to work on this.

2019: Completion of the "White Stone," "Archaeology" and "Rare, Manuscript and Old Printed Books" foundations electronic catalog

On December 18, 2019, Elar announced the completion of a project to create an electronic catalog of images of museum collections of the White Stone, Archaeology and Rare, Manuscript and Old Printed Books funds at MGOMZ.

To create insurancedatabases images of museum objects Moscow state of the combined art historical, architectural and natural landscape museum-reserve "Kolomenskoye" (MGOMZ), the ELAR corporation digitized objects from several collections. Depending on the peculiarities of the fund, ELAR specialists carried out work on photofixing and scanning exhibits. For the White Stone Foundation, which is special both in historical and cultural terms, and in the complexity of working with it in view of the size and weight of the monuments, it was possible to digitize the entire collection of columns and capitals of the foundation - only about 200 items, including fragments, weighing from 50 to 240 kg.

These are objects from such famous lost monuments of Moscow as the Church of St. Nicholas "Big Cross," Sukharev Tower, Simonov Monastery, the Church of Cosmas and Damian in Sadovniki,
tells the curator of museum items of the I category of the department of storage of museum collections Anastasia Sergeevna Drobyazko

Work in the White Stone vault was carried out using two riggers that delivered architectural fragments to the photo site on an electric car. For columns and other fragments of architectural decoration made of white stone, it was important to choose the right lighting in order to delicately highlight the objects and accurately convey their characteristic features. Serious post-processing of personnel was also required, since it was technically not possible to shoot against a special background,
comments expert on photography and high-quality scanning of ELAR Corporation Sergey Nikitin

For photofixing superheavy objects, it was decided to abandon the stationary photo point and photograph the objects at the storage sites.

Seven manuscript books 14-19v were digitized from the Rare, Manuscript and Old Printed Books Foundation using the PlanScan S3-TsA-600 contactless book scanner. Among them, for example, three monastic synodics of the XVII-XIX centuries - books for recording the clans of the monastery brethren and depositors of the monastery - come from the Nikolo-Ugreshsky monastery near Moscow, the Synodic of the Trinity-Lyutikov monastery with 146 miniatures, which is of interest as a book monument focused on the traditions of ancient bookishness of the XVI century and on popular art. As well as the instructive Gospel (1550-1570), made during the reign of Ivan the Terrible.

The gospel was intended for home, or cell, reading on Sundays. It is distinguished by the graphicity of semi-articular writing. The decoration of the book is an insert made of silk of dark raspberry color with an ornamental frame,
says the curator of museum items of the I category of the department of storage of museum collections Knyazeva Svetlana Yurievna

More than 800 objects of various sizes were digitized for the Archeology Foundation, which is part of the collection of white stone decoration of the Ascension Church in Kolomensky.

The objects are finds raised from the cultural layer in 1973-76 and 1990. The layer with fragments of decor was formed as a result of a major fire that occurred, possibly during the construction of the church or a little later than its construction. The exhibits are the most valuable genuine material for studying the architectural monument included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List,
explains Olga Vyacheslavovna Tatsenko, head of the Archaeology sector of the museum collections storage department

The completed project is the next stage of the ELAR Corporation's digitization of museum items from the MGOMZ collection, in which work continues to create an electronic catalog of images to fill the KAMIS automated museum system. Museum specialists note that the work done is also important for transferring digital copies to the State Catalog of the Museum Fund of the Russian Federation and for subsequent work with funds, studying lost monuments, creating electronic expositions and graphic reconstructions, presentations.

2017

On November 28, 2017, ELAR Corporation announced the implementation of the next stage of digitization of museum items from the collection of the Moscow State United Art Historical, Architectural and Natural Landscape Museum-Reserve (MGOMZ).

To fill with digital copies of exhibits of the automated museum system KAMIS , objects from the Archeology, Photo-Phono-Video, Old Russian Painting, and Decorative and Applied Art funds were transferred into electronic form.

Work continued on the creation of multimedia 3D videos of images of exhibits from the Decorative and Applied Arts Foundation. With the help of the ORTERI photo machine, an inkwell of the 19th century and a table clock dated in 1637 were digitized. The master from Germany created a unique object - the clock mechanism drives small figures. ELAR specialists, when digitizing, managed to transfer the work of the mechanism that animates tiny wooden figurines.

2015

December 10, 2015. ELAR Corporation announced the completion of a project to translate into electronic form the collections of the Archeology, Photo-Fono-Video Fund, Old Russian Painting and Arts and Crafts collections in the Moscow State United Museum-Reserve.

The information and analytical system "KAMIS" was filled with digital copies of the exhibits, which made it possible to improve the processes of accounting and storage of funds.

Objects of archeology, which relate to various periods of history, were translated into digital format using photofixation technology. Professional shooting of 500 exhibits from all angles made it possible to fully convey their characteristic features.

The "Photo-Background-Video Fund" of the Museum-Reserve includes rare and valuable photographs of the late XIX-early XX centuries, photo albums, black and white negatives of the 1920s-1930s, depositions of the early XX century, as well as modern film color negatives, slides and other materials. More than 3,000 negatives were scanned on specialized equipment, and 3,000 photos were transferred to electronic view on the ELAR PlanScan planetary scanner of the "C" series.

The collection of Old Russian paintings of the Moscow State United Museum-Reserve contains a unique collection of Russian icons of the 16th-20th centuries. During the project, 290 exhibits were translated into digital format. Prayer images were digitalized on the complex of high-quality scanning of the ELAR PowerScan brand.

Within the framework of the project, with the help of the ORTERI photo machine, a 3D survey of two voluminous objects from the Decorative and Applied Arts Foundation was carried out. Digitized "Mechanical watches with birds" of the late XVIII century and a unique monument to the work of the Kholmogorsk master of the late XVIII - early XIX centuries, the famous secretary from Kolomensky. The object, measuring 73x32x64 cm, is equipped with a folding cover and many drawers. The secretary is decorated with portraits of princes and tsars of the Russian state, placed throughout its surface: on the front and side walls, boxes, lid and upper plane above the lid. The low relief portraits are framed by round frames in the form of laurel wreaths enclosed in square frames made of bone tinted black.

"In addition, electronic images of objects will appear on the portal of the Moscow State United Museum-Reserve in the Collections section," says Olga Polyakova, chief curator of the museum. "Copies will be used to fill the State Catalog of the Museum Fund of the Russian Federation, in the preparation of print media and as part of the exposition activities of the institution."
"For some exhibits, for example, icons with gilding, minting, engraving, a more complex technology was used," says the project manager of the production department of ELARILIA Corporation Tsareva. - Such icons were scanned completely, as well as in macro photography mode. Then, in the process of processing the obtained electronic images, a photo collage was created. The result was a digital image completely authentic to the original. "
"As a result of the 3D photo recording of the secretary, we created a cylindrical roller, removed the object from all sides, as they say, in motion. The video shows how all his drawers come out, "says Yulia Tsareva
