The purpose of use of a system of recognition – to exclude a human factor when carrying out verifications of presence of convicts in corrective labor colony. According to a daily routine, employees check convicts in groups and local sectors three times a day by cards that is called "recalculating them on the heads". Educational and operational and regime services are involved in conducting checks, at the same time intermittent errors are possible.

The system of biometric registration of convicts allows to carry out an inspection of convicts automatically and completely excludes substitution of one person by another as the mark occurs on fingerprints. Fingerprints are entered in the database on each convict, it is impossible to forge them.

If for some reason the convict was not marked out on point of biometric registration, a system after the end of check instantly issues an alarm, and the staff of department of the mode finds out location of the "lost" convict.

As a system works in a standalone mode, process of registration of all convicts in one group takes about 10 minutes. Information on each biometric mark of the convict comes to the central base on the computer of the operator which is installed in a control room. Thus, being in one place, the employee obtains the comprehensive information about location of all convicts serving sentence in colony.
