Softline upgraded a storage system for the communication OMD OM group

Softline announced in May, 2016 project completion on creation of a hybrid storage system for OMD OM Group. As a result the customer increased convenience of information storage, fault tolerance of IT infrastructure and reduced costs for maintenance of its working capacity.

The OMD OM Group is included into transnational holding Omnicom Group Inc. also works at the market of services in the field of media service in Russia and the CIS. The OMD OM Group agencies are engaged in rendering services in the field of researches of the market, data analysis, creation and implementation of non-standard media solutions and new communication channels, marketing researches, econometric modeling.

The Moscow office of the company needed to upgrade storage system (DWH) and to create reserve data center which would exclude the probability of loss of important information and provided disaster tolerance of computing infrastructure. The Softline company which specialists have wide experience in the field of creation of IT infrastructures was engaged in project implementation.

Inspection of local infrastructure showed that these companies are stored on DWH of different producers. Such approach complicates administration of systems and requires big time and finance costs. For the purpose of providing online access to necessary information with specialists of Softline the hybrid solution Microsoft StorSimple 8100 which provides data storage depending on the frequency of their use was implemented: often required files are placed in local storages, and seldom used - are copied in a cloud service of Microsoft Azure, previously being exposed to compression and enciphering. Also to the customer the Azure Active Directory Premium system providing remote access to accounts and data was customized. In addition, OMD OM Group was offered the expanded guarantee including free round-the-clock technical support of the implemented IT solutions. In the project progress data from the servers which are available for the customer were moved to new storages then the old equipment was switched-off. As a result of OMD OM Group received functional, failsafe IT infrastructure with a possibility of expansion of volume of the cloud storage from 15 to 200 Tb.
