The Uralsib insurance group upgraded a storage system

On February 7, 2017 the Softline company announced upgrade of the storage system (SS) by request of Uralsib insurance group. The system of Infinidat company became the technological solution

Project Tasks

Due to constantly increasing volume of the processed information, the URALSIB insurance group needed updating of the storage system (SS). Earlier the company used the equipment of different producers, adhering to approach "acquisition under a task".

Using a new array it was going to consolidate data storage of virtual infrastructure of VMware, the system of a business intelligence, VDI, etc. Selection terms:

• performance,
• reliability
• aggregate value of the solution.

As the IT partner the Softline company of technology from the Israeli company Infinidat proposed. For solving of tasks of the customer the InfiniBox F2240 model is selected.

Project Progress

Specialists of the customer tested DWH far off based on DPC of the producer.

Works on implementation included installation of the equipment in DPC of the customer, testing of reliability and integration into IT infrastructure. The storage system showed high performance. For example, the standard analytical report forms nearly 3 times quicker now.

Project Results

The customer purchased storage system of 130 TB of formatted capacity. Infinibox F2240 with a full range of disks and a cache (330 TB and 38 TB) limited to the license. The model of providing the resources "capacity on demand" from Infinidat company gives the chance of expansion of resources of DWH after acquisition of additional licenses.

We are glad that the Softline company is our partner in the Russian market. Are sure that this interaction will allow to implement new projects and will expand our presence in Russia. In the project for SG we managed to confirm Uralsib high reliability and solution performance. It allowed the customer not only to consolidate versatile business challenges in one DWH, thereby having saved on support and management, but also to get noticeable advantage in performance. In a project deliverable the customer received the universal scalable and failsafe DWH meeting his corporate standards.

For us it is the first experience of system implementation of InfiniBox for the Russian customer. We are sure that further the popularity of this solution in the domestic market will only grow, and we suggest clients to test the equipment already now in sew a demo zone. When we needed additional resources, and upgrade of the existing storage systems required essential investments, we made a choice for benefit of the solution of Infinidat company. As a result we managed to reduce storage cost by 2.5 times with higher performance and to get rid of the problems connected with further upgrade of DWH.
