Sovcombank chose Smart Engines as a provider of artificial intelligence technologies for recognizing passports and other certification documents, as well as for reading bank cards, phone numbers and QR codes. The solutions are based on proprietary OCR technology developed by scientists at Smart Engines, which announced this on March 4, 2024.

The Smart ID Engine software product is used in the processes of registering, identifying and verifying users in retail branches and digital channels with respect to the security of working with personal data. Using the Smart ID Engine, you can automatically extract data, including handwritten ones, of all pages of the Russian passport and more than 50 more certifying documents of the Russian Federation and the EAEU. The speed and accuracy of recognition is ensured by the use of deep sparse discrete neural networks and visual intelligence technologies.

The Smart Code Engine is used to scan QR codes, bank cards and phone numbers. The system makes it easier to enter data for making payments and transfers in mobile banking applications and their web versions based on PWA technology.

2017: Implementation of Smart IDReader in mobile application

On April 7, 2017, Smart Engines announced the implementation of the Smart IDReader document recognition solution in the mobile application "Mobile Credit," designed to issue loans in partner stores of Sovcombank PJSC Bank.

With the help of the Mobile Credit application, employees of partner stores draw up a loan without printing documents and with only one client signature in the amount of up to 15,000 rubles. The use of mobile devices instead of stationary computers allows employees not to be tied to workplaces and quickly serve customers even during the peak influx of visitors.

Partner store employees no longer need to spend time manually entering data using the Mobile Credit version for iOS and Android. It is enough to point the mobile phone camera at the client's passport, and Smart IDReader recognizes the necessary data in a few seconds and fills out the loan application form. At the same time, Smart IDReader performs all calculations on the mobile phone itself in real time. Data is not transferred over the Internet for recognition to the cloud or to an external server.
