Nitero

The Nitero company developed the chip using phase transfer of millimeter waves to solve a problem of wireless connection of VR and AR. Using high-frequency wireless data transmission at a frequency of 60 Hz, this technology has the potential for transfer of multigigabit data sets with low delays for implementation of a VR environment in one room. Formation of the directed bunch of signals solves the problem of direct visibility characteristic of the traditional systems using millimeter waves and can potentially become replacement of wires for VR helmets, allowing people it is easier to plunge into the virtual world or augmented reality.

In April, 2017 announced AMD acquisition of intellectual property (IP) and also employment of key engineers of Nitero company, developer of technology of millimeter waves which are capable to ensure functioning of future generations of wireless helmets of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). This acquisition will expand a portfolio of intellectual property of AMD and will allow to offer creators of VR devices and solutions the key technologies necessary for creation of deeper digital impressions.

'The cables of helmets constraining movements remain a considerable obstacle to universal implementation of VR — Mark Peypermeyster, the technical director and the senior vice president of AMD told. — The technology of wireless virtual reality which is recently purchased by us is just directed to the solution of this problem and is one more example of long-term investments of AMD in the computing and graphic technologies allowing to create more immersive computer effects'.
