Completion of the first scaling step
The state corporation Roskosmos"" has completed the first stage of scaling the Digital project Earth throughout the territory. of the Russian Federation The result was the first comprehensive digital map of economic activity and the state of the natural resources of all. countries Digitization data based on remote sensing of the Earth (remote sensing) from space for several years was carried out by specialists of JSC "" (TERRA TEH part of the holding "State Russian space systems Corporation" Roscosmos "). This was reported to the RKS on November 3, 2023.
The Digital Earth project is being implemented by Roscosmos under the Digital Economy of Russia program and involves the transfer to regional executive authorities of all constituent entities of the Russian Federation of information products based on space survey data and artificial intelligence technologies in the following areas: forestry and agriculture, subsoil use, construction, ecology, emergencies, disturbed lands.
Since 2020, when the development of Digital Earth services was completed, we have been adjusting the system: in direct contact with regional authorities, they determined their needs for geoanalytics, adapted algorithms, and further trained neural networks, taking into account the significant scale of our country and its diversity. The technology has found its place in regional geoinformation systems and has proven to be effective. It brings concrete benefits to employees of the relevant ministries of nature management and ecology, agriculture, the Ministry of Emergencies, informatization and others in solving their daily work tasks, said Maxim Boltachev, Director General of TERRA TECH JSC.

For the first year of the large-scale application of geoservices, an inclusive monitoring of the country was carried out, which made it possible to determine the qualitative and quantitative characteristics of assets in each region. For 2022-2023, data were obtained on the number, territorial distribution and area of all open-pit mining facilities, all construction sites, deforestation, the actual border of forests, forest hares and water bodies. As a result, a section of economic activity was formed at each facility and throughout the country as a whole.
The use of space images and artificial intelligence by federal and regional executive bodies contributes to a better understanding of the state of assets in the regions, planning further disposal of them, prompt detection and elimination of violations. The special potential of the service is noted for hard-to-reach and remote entities with underdeveloped transport infrastructure, where control requires serious time and financial costs.
Space survey data worldwide is recognized as the most valuable source of information and is actively used by state and commercial structures, which is confirmed by marketing data on the annual growth of the global DZZ market, primarily in the service segment. Analytical information on natural objects and economic activities generated in services based on images and machine learning is a powerful tool for planning and managing the territory.
Completion of the first stage of testing
In July 2023, the first stage of the testings large-scale Digital Earth system for the regions will be completed. Russia This was Roskosmos announced on May 24, 2023. The main result of this project will be the appearance to the country in the first digital map of economic activities created on the basis. Earth remote sensing data The preliminary conclusions of the company's specialists "" (TERRA TEH part of the holding "of the Russian space systems State Corporation" Roscosmos ") were presented at the VI meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission for the Implementation of the Results of Space Activities.
The report of TERRA TECH specialists contained a rating of Russian regions by the degree of involvement in the project - they were ranked depending on the scale of use of geoanalysts for control and supervisory activities. Experts pointed to key problems and identified prospects for the development of a complex of geoservices for regional state consumers.
The company was given a comprehensive task - to make sure that each region in the country receives up-to-date data on the state and changes in natural assets on its territory. In practice, we create a digital map of the economic activities of the entire country and transfer this analytics to authorized representatives of authorities in the regions. According to the results of inclusive space monitoring, Roscosmos will submit a report to the Russian government indicating the degree of involvement of each region in the use of geodata for control and supervision of territories and natural resources, - commented Maxim Boltachev, Director General of TERRA TECH. |
The development of services of the Digital Earth system, which is part of the national program, Digital Economics was completed in 2020. The information complex consists of 7 industry services and 27 information products. At the first stage of all-Russian testing, the regions of the country received geoanalytics about the number and area of forest felling, objects, constructions quarries, about the actual area of water bodies, as well as territories occupied by forest vegetation or affected by fire and wind turbines. Information is collected by territory of each region and can be used by local authorities for control and supervision activities, in territorial planning and organization of protection of natural resources.
Identification of more than 50 violations of subsoil use in the Novgorod region
Remote sensing materials Lands became the basis of inspections, Ministry of Natural Resources, Forestry and Ecology of Novgorod Region which revealed 54 subsoil users who violated the boundaries of the developed territories. All of them received warnings about the inadmissibility of violating mandatory requirements during the development of regional subsoil. The regional authorities were provided with space monitoring materials to JSC "" TERRA TEH(the holding company of "State Corporation") Russian space systemsRoskosmos through the user interface of the Digital Earth system. The RKS holding announced this on March 9, 2023.
We have requested and received the results of monitoring through the Digital Earth system. The Career service analyzed the data, during which three groups of offenses were identified. This information became the basis for preventive measures within the framework of regional state geological control in the Novgorod region, |
TERRA TECH geoservices also made it possible to detect illegitimate sections of quarries that will be investigated in detail by regional state geological supervision. The next object of space observation and analysis will be illegal logging in the region.
Our company scales the Digital Earth project to cover the services of the system of all regions of the country. Cooperation with the Novgorod region, which began in 2022, is developing successfully. By the summer of 2023, it is planned to carry out work on monitoring Novgorod forests and subsoil use facilities for a new round of regional verification measures, noted the general director of TERRA TECH Maxim Boltachev.

Earth remote sensing technologies provide an opportunity for prompt and effective control of resource use. Space monitoring allows you to study processes and objects on the scale of an entire subject of Russia without going to the area - with further verification of signals about possible violations.
2022: Launch of a free mobile application for viewing images from a satellite at a resolution of 70 cm
In December 2022, Roscosmos released a free mobile application for viewing high-resolution satellite images. With the help of this program, users will be able to access data from the Earth remote sensing system (remote sensing system) directly from a smartphone. By December 13, 2022, it is available for download on the Google Play store .
Using the Digital Earth mobile application, the following are available:
- View images of the earth's surface obtained from Russian satellites.
- Filtering images by district, date of receipt and archiving, cloud cover, spatial resolution, and other parameters.
