SPC of Geostr upgraded DWH based on solutions of Netapp and Lenovo

At the end of June, 2017 the Network Project company completed upgrade of a storage system in the Russian center of processing and interpretation of seismic data — the Geostra research and production center which is a part of Bashneftegeofizika.

Solution and contractor

Within the project technical solution based on the Lenovo x3650 M5 servers, an array of Netapp E5600 and the IBM Spectrum Scale file system delivered on Lenovo OEM channel was applied.

For several years we fought for the right to become system providers of data storage for SPC of Geostr, and only this year we managed to achieve success. This success is not accidental: it is caused as constantly growing experience and knowledge of our engineers, and expansion of our product portfolio, and, above all — the growing maturity of requirements of customers. Thanks to cooperation with Lenovo and NetApp we could propose to the customer the solution exceeding proposals of competitors — Vsevolod Shabad, the CEO "Network Project the Urals".

Project Results

On a withdrawal of SPC of Geostr, project implementation allowed to raise several times performance of infrastructure of input-output of a computing cluster, and density of data storage grew almost by 10 times.

The director of SPC of Geostr the Azat Adiyev emphasized that the technical solution offered and implemented by specialists of Network Project company based on the equipment of Netapp, Lenovo and the software of IBM Spectrum Scale appeared not only the most functional, but the most economic of all which were considered. Moreover, this solution allowed SPC of Geostr to save investments into the existing storage system by accession of its capacity to new DWH. He also noted that design, delivery and implementation were complete in a short time.
