2021: Digitizing Archive Storage

The archive notes such characteristics of the scanner as scanning speed and a contactless digitization method, which eliminates any mechanical damage to the originals.

"It was important for us that the planetary scanner is designed for both color and black and white digitization of books, magazines, newspapers, various kinds of fastened, sewn or expanded documents, any dilapidated and non-standard materials. Since the scanner is equipped with a V-shaped book cradle with angle adjustment and the ability to open by 90, 120  and 180 degrees, originals up to 15 cm thick can be scanned qualitatively without damaging the root, " says Olga Ivanovna Denisova, director of the State Archive of the Ulyanovsk Region.

In mid-October 2021, the archive is digitizing a complex of metric books. It is planned to digitize about 3,000 storage units or 500 thousand sheets.

Electronic copies of documents will be used in the cultural, educational and educational activities of the archive for historical and local history education and the formation of the regional identity of residents of the Ulyanovsk region: when creating numerous stationary and virtual exhibitions, presentations necessary for lecture work and other public events. Also, electronic images will become available in the electronic reading room of the archive.

The transition to the operation of state archives with electronic information resources is a prerequisite for the effective provision of information services in the field of archival affairs to individuals and legal entities.

2017: Installation of a deep cradle planetary scanner
