2021: Implementation of dynamic navigation on the path to the inter-terminal transition
On February 20, 2021, Sheremetyevo International Airport announced that for the convenience and prompt information of passengers, guests and employees, it introduced dynamic navigation on the way to the ICC stations (inter-terminal crossing) of the northern and southern terminal complexes.
Media cranes are located before descents to the southern and northern station complexes of the ICC. In normal mode, information about the direction of movement to trains and how to move to them (on an escalator or elevator) is broadcast on media panels. In case of temporary limitation of inter-terminal transition operation, information on alternative versions of transfer between southern and northern terminal complexes is displayed.
Navigation is distinguished by bright visual design using dynamic elements, data are displayed in an enlarged format, which allows you to make information as accessible as possible and attracting the attention of passengers, noted at the airport. Messages on monitors are duplicated in English and Chinese.
2020: Commissioning of Life-Constrained Passenger Information Device
At Sheremetyevo International Airport, a digital device was installed and put into operation to inform passengers with disabilities, including hearing and speech disorders. This was announced by the airport on October 6, 2020.
Video information assistant is located in public area of terminal B departure near information rack (3rd floor).
VIP is a special device for airports in Russia. The device allows passengers to quickly get all the necessary information about services at the airport, including services for persons with disabilities. For users with hearing and speech impairments, a special section is available in the device menu, which contains information about the procedure for passing pre-flight formalities, the rules for transporting hand luggage and baggage, the rules for passenger behavior in case of emergencies at the airport, and more. All information in this section is in Russian sign language.

2019: Personal Passenger Information Device Commissioning
On December 24, 2019, the press service of Sheremetyevo Airport reported that modern digital personal information devices DBA (Digital boarding assistant) were installed and put into operation on the territory of the airport. Information kiosks are located in the "sterile" zones of domestic and international departures of Terminals D, E and F.
Modern digital DBA devices are little known for Russian airports as of December 2019. This service allows passengers who have passed pre-flight formalities to quickly get all the necessary information about their flight and effectively plan the time before departure.
The information kiosk interface supports three languages: Russian, English and Chinese. To obtain flight data, the passenger must scan the barcode of the boarding pass on the DBA device. After scanning, the kiosk displays the following information:
- departure terminal;
- floor, exit number;
- direction to the gate;
- travel time to landing;
- estimated time before the start of landing;
- departure time;
- direction of departure;
- flight number.
Digitalization of the passenger transportation process is one of the important directions of Sheremetyevo Airport infrastructure development. The active introduction of modern technological solutions in this area allows you to speed up the passage of pre-flight formalities and make staying at the airport for passengers as informative and comfortable as possible.
2018
Installation of 4-way information board in Terminal E
Sheremetyevo International Airport continues comprehensive modernization of information and navigation infrastructure. On October 3, 2018, Sheremetyevo reported the installation of a four-way information board in the departure hall of Terminal E, which provides detailed information about flights and helps passengers better plan their stay at the airport.
Each of the four sides of the signage consists of ten LCD panels with a diameter of 55 inches, four of which are used to demonstrate advertising and useful content for travelers, and six are designed to display flight information from all airport terminals within the general concept: information is grouped by departure time, divided into hourly intervals and presented in three languages: Russian, English and Chinese.
With the installation of placards, including 15 clusters of monitors with LCD panels with a diagonal of 42 and 55 inches, previously located in all terminals, Sheremetyevo Airport created a comfortable technological environment for all categories of passengers.
For convenient and prompt access to the necessary information, the airport also launched an updated version of the site: the information on the site is structured based on the analysis of user behavior scenarios and takes into account the main requests of passengers and guests of the airport - departure, arrival and transfer. When developing the site for the first time among IAU airports, the Mobile First principle was applied: convenient display on smartphones and tablets without losing the benefits of displaying on a large screen.
Sheremetyevo launched a mobile application on iOS and Android, which provides the necessary services to all categories of passengers: flight subscription, parking, terminal navigation and others. Travelers can ask any question in Russian or English and get an answer in chat mode in WhatsApp and Viber instant messengers.
Next-generation information boards and online information allow you to free up passenger time for a comfortable flight wait: visit cafes, restaurants, shops and spend time with interest at the airport.
Integration of LED display in Terminal D
On June 7, 2018, Samsung Electronics announced the completion of a project to integrate a premium LED display at Sheremetyevo International Airport. The professional display is located in the departure area in front of the passport control in the center of Terminal D.
One of the key points during the development of this solution was the high quality of the equipment, as well as the ability to work with 24-hour operation. Samsung equipment was chosen due to the high results when testing equipment at the initial stage of implementation and the already proven high image characteristics, the quality of LED rooms, simple installation and a convenient control interface.
To organize the Samsung LED design, 279 premium rooms of the IF025H series were installed at Sheremetyevo Airport. The weight of each cabinet is no more than 5.8 kg, which made it possible to significantly reduce the load on the load-bearing structures. The screen with a size of 14880 x 4860 mm and a resolution of 5952 x 1944 pks has a high refresh rate (1920 Hz ~ 3840 Hz), which ensures that there are no flickers during video shooting. The highest point of the screen is at an altitude of 11.5 meters, while the image is read from almost any point, thanks to wide viewing angles up to 180 ° horizontally and vertically. The image remains bright even when direct sunlight hits, showing the brightness of the screen at 1200 nits with a peak value of 2400 nits.
During the installation, Samsung's proprietary software was used, which ensured the simplicity of settings and further operation of the LED screen.
2017: Comprehensive modernization of navigation and IT infrastructure
Sheremetyevo International Airport continues to comprehensively modernize its information and navigation infrastructure on the eve of the 2018 World Cup. In January 2018, the airport reported that the terminals and transitional galleries completed the universal installation, testing and debugging of next-generation monitor clusters, which provide detailed flight information and help passengers better plan their stay at the airport.
Clusters of monitors
15 clusters of monitors with LCD panels diagonally 42 and 55 inches are located in places with the highest cross-country access, in areas of waiting and delivery of luggage and in other functional areas of the airport. Monitors show the current schedule and status of flights in three languages: Russian, English and Chinese.
In addition to the flight scoreboard, it is planned to display various useful information for travelers and guests: weather signs, road situation, recommendations and advertising. It is possible to display information on the screen in any sequence and dynamics, based on the current situation. Many promotional support tools are integrated with reference media, which improves contact with the audience. So, in the baggage receiving areas, passenger visual information systems are combined with advertising structures.
Online representation
The intensive development of the airport's online representative office continues: accounts in mobile, messengers WhatsApp, Telegram[Viber]. Interactive communication channels provide the required support to travelers and guests from the planning stage of the trip from home to the airport to boarding the aircraft.
Baggage delivery service
In addition, Sheremetyevo Airport expanded the functionality of the service for the independent delivery of luggage by passengers of Aeroflot Airlines and increased the number of self-delivery baggage racks in Terminal D to 4. Now, when luggage is handed over, the flight class and passenger status in the Aeroflot Bonus program are taken into account. At the end of 2017, with the help of this service, travelers handed over over 80 thousand units of baggage, and the average rating of the service on a five-point scale from passengers using the service is 4.76.
Electronic boarding passes
In 2017, Sheremetyevo Airport also tested the information system necessary for the use of boarding passes in electronic form. Its commissioning will take place immediately after a positive decision is made at the legislative level. Avoiding the need for a boarding pass on paper will reduce the time of pre-flight procedures for passengers and at the same time optimize the process of verifying documents and controlling the presence of travelers in terminals.
Wi-Fi Network
The high-speed Wi-Fi network covers the public and "sterile" areas of the airport's passenger terminals and provides seamless internet connection anywhere in the airport complex.
