The multinational corporation is one of leading oil companies of Russia and enters ten the largest private oil companies in the world on oil production volumes. In total the structure of JSC MNC included more than 40 affiliated enterprises.

JSC Tyumen Oil Company (TOC) was founded in 1995.

Since 1997 Access Industries of Leonard Blavatnik together with Victor Vekselberg's Renova and Alfa Group of Mikhail Friedman acquired 40% of shares of Tyumen Oil Company at the state.

After crisis of 1998 the group of shareholders of AAR (Access/«alfa" / "Renova") purchased another 50 percent of multinational corporation. Blavatnik was the board member of the company and saved this post in formed in 2003 on a parity basis with BP by TNK-BP company, and Access Industries became the owner 12.5 percent of shares of the new oil company.

In 2008 Blavatnik participated in the conflict of shareholders of TNK-BP which led to dismissal from a post of the director of the company Robert Dudley. Called purchase of multinational corporation of a press one of the most profitable investments of Blavatnik.
