Graytek helped NLMK-Engineering to broaden the sphere of use of BIM for design

On October 2, 2018 the engineering and consulting company "PSS Graytek" announced that specialists of the company helped NLMK-Engineering, one of design institutes with the Russian metallurgy, to broaden the sphere of use of BIM at design of industrial facilities. In two years the way from a pilot project before complex implementation of technology of information modeling is passed.

The implementation project of BIM in production processes of NLMK-Engineering started in 2016. The PSS Graytek company which helped to create the BIM standard acted as the partner, to start the systems of engineering document flow on the basis of Autodesk Vault Professional with a packet of adaptation of DarkStream for management of design data, to execute a complex pilot project on BIM technology.

Since 2016 the scope of BIM in JSC NLMK-Engineering significantly extended. It demanded training of the accepted employees and advanced training of the existing specialists in the field of digital modeling.

For training in tools and work with necessary software in the companies started the portal on the basis of the platform of distance learning KiloNewton which is developed by PSS Graytek. Employees step by step master practical skills, take control tests and perform a summarizing task. Successful training is confirmed by the registered certificate from Autodesk company. Also in plans of NLMK-Engineering – integration of accomplishment of estimate calculations with BIM technology and scaling of BIM on all project activity.

As explained in PSS Graytek, experience of NLMK-Engineering is unique the fact that the company is engaged in reconstruction. Therefore technology equipment and other components need to be entered in already ready infrastructure.
