In August, 2018 the VRgineers company presented the updated XTAL helmet. Resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels to each eye has professional 5K VR headsets, the general display resolution at the same time is 5120х1440. Update rate – 70 Hz.

Besides XTAL has function of voice recognition and can even automatically regulate interpupillary distance: AutoEye is corporate technology of the company which automatically aligns provision of lenses with the user's eyes. The type of the display is OLED with the patented, specially developed aspherical lenses.
Developers are going to update the internal software to provide the general tracking of provision of eyes, improved visualization. Also development and connection of the module which will allow to trace a helmet in space on technology is planned Windows Mixed Reality. On a surface a helmet modules with markers for the different systems of tracking easily are installed.[1]
XTAL is specially designed for expensive production, industrial and corporate audience. The product is optimized for professional graphic processors Nvidia Quadro.
The VRgineers XTAL headset is available to purchase in the USA for $5800. Deliveries of a product started in September, 2018.[2]
