Rostelecom spent 100 million for gadgets for testing of domestic OS Sailfish

On October 5, 2018 it became known that "Rostelecom" paid over 100 million rubles for delivery tablets T8 of the 500 and 8000 smartphones R7 production the Russian of the company Inoi working under control of domestic OC Sailfish.

Rostelecom purchased smartphones and tablets of the domestic Inoi brand within two purchases. The Center of Distribution company (VVP Group brand) became the only participant of the tender and its winner.

Rostelecom bought 8 thousand smartphones Inoi R7 and 1.2 thousand tablets Inoi T8 within the tender for the amount of 99,940,046 rub 90 kopeks (including VAT), follows from data of the tender placed on portal state procurements. In addition Rostelecom bought 60 Inoi R7 smartphones and 700 Inoi T8 tablets for the amount of 10.316 million rubles, follows from data of other tender. Rostelecom said that devices are purchased for testing of the domestic Sailfish operating system.

As noted in CNews, Rostelecom carried out two separate rounds of purchases at the unique service providers on Sailfish testing: one for the amount of 3.2 million rubles on carrying out certification tests of the program product "The Protected Mobile Operating System of General Purpose based on Sailfish Mobile OS RUS", the second for the amount of 3.18 million rubles on "rendering services in audit of development processes and the software of a mobile and cloud platform of SailFish". JSC Sinklit got the first lot, the second — PP Sputnik LLC ("subsidiary" of Rostelecom). Thus, all on this subject Rostelecom spent about 116.5 million rubles for projects.

The characteristics of the Inoi smartphones stated in documentation of purchases of Rostelecom meet the specifications provided on the website of the producer.

The Inoi R7 model represents the compact smartphone in the body of black color executed based on processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 1,3 GHz (four cores ARM Cortex A7 of a sample of 2015) with the integrated modem X5 LTE and graphics of Adreno 304, equipped with the 5-inch screen on a matrix of IPS with the resolution of 1280x720 pixels and the slot under two SIM- cards with the Dual SIM mode.

The smartphone supports networks 4G (LTE), 2 GB of operational and 16 GB of the internal memory with a possibility of expansion by the memory cards microSD with a capacity up to 64 GB are equipped.

Inoi R7 is equipped with the main camera on 8 MT and the front camera on 5 MT with flash and an auto focus. Opportunities smartphone include navigation GPS, GLONASS and A-GPS, support Bluetooth and Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, micro port USB and the connector of 3.5 mm under the headset.

The smartphone is delivered with the preset Sailfish Mobile OS RUS operating system. The built-in lithium-pol cell with a capacity of 2500 mAh, according to the producer, is enough for 6 hours of a conversation or up to 200 working hours in a stanby mode.

The smartphone is executed in the plastic body of black color, dimensions 145.9 x 71.5 x 8.9 mm, weight of 145 g. The Inoi R7 smartphone went on sale in May, 2017. For October, 2018 the recommended price of the smartphone on the website of the producer is 11 990 rub.

The Inoi T8 tablet provided in June, 2018 became the first solution of a tablet form factor based on OS Sailfish. From the moment of the announcement it was stated that deliveries of the Inoi T8 tablet are focused, first of all, on a segment of public procurements though the model will also be available to consumers of mass market.

According to data on the website of state procurements, Rostelecom purchased Inoi T8 tablets with the preset Sailfish Mobile OS RUS mobile operating system on the 4-core MediaTek MTK8735W processor with clock rate of 1.3 GHz and the built-in CAT 4 LTE modem.

The tablet is equipped with the 8-inch display on a matrix of IPS with display resolution of 1920х1200 pixels (FHD), RAM of 2 GB the internal memory of 16 GB, the main camera 8 MT and the MT front camera 5.

The tablet supports Wi-fi networks 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, cellular networks 3G/4G LTE and is equipped with two slots under SIM cards. Available USB 2.0 port (micro USB), support of GPS and GLONASS, built-in light sensor.

The tablet is equipped with the accumulator with a capacity of 4000 mAh and works in the temperature range from -10 °C to +35 °C. The weight of the device is 350 g.

Exact retail price of the Inoi T8 tablet for October, 2018 is not known. Within the presentation it was announced that the speech about an average and price segment (from 10 to 25 thousand rubles).^[1]
