The Karfidov Lab company (the center of collective use Skolkovo) is design office of a full stroke, in the market since 2014.

For March, 2019 the central office of the company is located in Moscow. Also there is a branch in Yekaterinburg and representation in St. Petersburg.

Activity

The main direction for May, 2020 — development of the innovation turnkey technical products. Key difference is the model of preparation of projects. Development goes seamlessly from industrial design to the knowledge-intensive engineering and further to prototyping. Also the company renders consulting services and provides corporate training in modern engineering and design.

History

2020: Consolidation of efforts with VivaldiAI for creation of approaches to IoT

On July 14, 2020 it became known that graduates of Skoltech combine efforts for creation of approaches to IoT.

Project objective – to enter global market of Internet of Things, services for robotization and digitalization of the enterprises. Consolidation of competences "Karfidov Lab" (industrial design) and VivaldiAI (machine learning, AI and Big Data) will allow to implement complex projects with smart analytics and the cheloveko-focused approach.

Initial investments will be directed to formation of a separate project team and target marketing. Technological capabilities will be given on the basis of both companies fulfilled the practician. Having combined efforts, Karfidov Lab and VivaldiAI expect to propose solutions not only to the Russian, but also European customers, having begun with the market of Germany.

According to IDC, world expenses on Internet of Things in 2023 will reach a point of 1.1 trillion dollars. Growth within three years will be 12.6%. The great influence on this market will be had by development of fifth generation of communication (5G). Karfidov Lab and VivaldiAI already receive orders for creation of technology products for the markets which form in connection with deployment by a 5G networks and the general trend on digitalization.

Often technically well executed IoT-projects are not beyond testing and are dismantled after victorious reports. The reason very simple – the solution is made without needs of people, without integration into real processes of the enterprise. It is sometimes simply inconvenient for practical use. Good design, contrary to popular belief — it is not simply beautiful. It should work for efficiency, for accomplishment of target tasks. Implementation of a 5G gives an impulse for Internet of Things, and democratization of Data Science brings closer difficult technologies to the market therefore we support such solutions as the Karfidov Lab and VivaldiAI joint project.

Success of the modern IoT-solution depends on the whole complex of factors. Among them there is an accurate and counted business orientation of the project, the choice of the correct network solutions and the systems of collecting, storage and data processing. At last, a lot of things depend on participation of staff of the enterprise in implementation of the IoT-solution in operational production processes or rendering services. This task often appears the most difficult. For its solution are required: experiment of the analysis of processes, understanding of needs of employees, the thought-over industrial design, competences on engineering and development of network solutions. Such complex approach will allow to pay back investments into digitalization and to optimize production and business processes, to cut down operating expenses, to increase revenue and marginality.

One more factor, important for the customer, is a speed of implementation of digital technologies at the enterprise, depending on experience of participants and the applied methodology of maintaining the project and solution development. Thanks to joint efforts of software developers, industrial designers and data processing specialists, the Karfidov Lab and VivaldiAI project will give the chance to quickly start the digital product configured under the customer's requests.
