2019: Use of the robot

At the end of March, 2019 in the residential body in Beijing there was a robot security guard patrolling neighborhoods at night. His developers call the product the first in own way — it integrates face recognition functions, infrared thermal imagers and the interface for communication with people.

The hi-tech robot who received the name Meibao was developed by the Beijing institute of space automatic control (BAACI). Support during creation of the robot was also given by the Chinese academy of development of carrier rockets and Institute of the space industry of China. Liu Gangjun, the project director in BAACI, reported that tests of the robot will be passed till April, 2019.

Growth of Meibao is 1.7 meters, it is supplied with the cameras located on "head" in the form of eyes and the big screen on a breast. The software used by Meibao represents a combination of technologies of bioidentification, the analysis of Big Data, the inertial navigation system and other applications which can precisely process the arriving information. If in the protected area there are suspects, Meibao or hi-tech door locks with similar functions transmit an alarm to police.

Meibao not only monitors illegal activity. For example, it can provide to locals a weather forecast, entertain them interesting stories and even to reproduce music that often attracts children. Watchdogs also with warmth met the robot security guard – they had to patrol the area whole in the days, and Meibao unloaded with them a part.

The Meibao robot is a part of the large project BAACI on creation of the smart home. In addition to the robot security guard, he already includes door locks with face recognition function, the digital panel of the notification and the smartwatch which are keeping track of the state of health of elderly people.^[1]
