2019: Flight tests of the CityAirbus air taxi
On May 15, 2019 it became known that the European aircraft manufacturing concern Airbus carried out on May 3, 2019 the first flight tests of the perspective city CityAirbus air taxi in the German Donauvyort. The first weeds the device took place in the pilotless mode, and CityAirbus was tied by ropes to land anchors.
The first flight of the rotary-wing equipment usually takes place on a leash — the aircraft reliably is kept by ropes to avoid accident in case of loss of management. During such tests developers check operation of engines and a management system of the rotary-wing equipment.
During tests of CityAirbus made several takes off and landing. The device was also checked in the hanging mode. All carried-out inspections are considered successful. In the nearest future developers will test still the CityAirbus series then the device will be transferred to Mankhing. There the air taxi will be tested free flight.
Ground tests of CityAirbus were carried out by Airbus concern since February, 2019. Development of the electric CityAirbus air taxi is conducted since 2015. The project assumes creation of the passenger device according to the scheme of the quadcopter capable to transport from two to four people on distance up to 60 kilometers. Cruising speed of the air taxi will be 120 kilometers per hour[1].
