2019: Announcement

At the end of May, 2019 Logitech provided provided as the company claims, the first-ever stylus for drawing in virtual reality. The device under the name Logitech VR Ink allows to create not only two-dimensional images, as on the sheet of paper, but also three-dimensional VR in space.

It is known that some companies began to use virtual reality for performance improvement and creativity, however controllers of virtual reality were created for the game industry with the corresponding restrictions. Logitech saw in it opportunities for improvement and constructed the stylus — according to developers, the most natural and easy way of interaction in virtual reality

Most of authors studied at school and the university to drawing by a pencil – the same allows to do the stylus in virtual reality. The stylus works with the HTC Vive VR headset – its external sensors define the direction of the stylus at any moment. So, the engineer can draw as the car with a body on the one hand will look, and then to transfer the stylus to the 3D mode and to finish drawing it with another, easily changing the brush size in process.

The director of programs of virtual reality of Logitech Denis O'Keeffe considers that Logitech VR Ink Pilot Edition is the first step on the way to creativity in three-dimensional space designed to stimulate an ecosystem of VR. Logitech wishes to cooperate with community of virtual reality to create convenient tools for application developers and platforms and also for industry partners.

Logitech provided the first-ever stylus which it is possible to draw in virtual reality

So far released Logitech a limited number of VR Ink Pilot Edition styluses for the elected partners to study options of its use. The possibility of preorders will appear later, and it is expected that the product will be available for sale in 2019.[1]
